when you're waiting for the wheels to come off?

Ever since making even par in last month's medal I've been going through a golden patch, six successive net sub-pars (albeit off yellows and casual rounds) including breaking 90 for a 6-under.

Thing about these is there have been problem holes on every round but still making the scores.

The first big test will be on Monday, society medal comp, and the Club medal the following week.

I think they are called neck muscles, viscount!! :) ;)

As Parmo said, us high handicappers will always have a spattering of bad holes in every round.

Now, I know when it looks like I'm going to make a big score on my card my overriding thought is "How I can minimise the number of shots." It seems to help me.

Oh, and keep practicing.

I know where he's coming from though. 5 over gross standing on 16th tee and had a mare (OB and made double) and then the domino effect (OB at 17 for double and boegy at the last). I tried to focus and breath and do all the things I'd read about but once I was over the ball it was back to the please be straight sceanrio and of course the ball wasn't playing that game.

I think if you've got the shots in the locker the secret is to forget the one bad hole and not chase after making the shots up and thereby frittering more away. If you've been solid before a bad hole the chances are you can get back into a routine and maybe pick up a few gross pars to repair the damage.

went out today but in hindsight I should have taken notice of the omens,

got to the course early afternoon to find it locked out by a corporate day, first available tee time 5.00
weather was really sticky, hot humid, thundery (though miles away), no wind
at 5.00 the back looked clear so started on the 10th, slow start, doing alright but nothing exciting. Then I caught up with the back of the 'society', I'm solo but still surprised to be passed through. Next group were the worst nightmare, they would 'run' on a hole if they thought I might get near them. eventually reached 18, still just about alright with expectations that the front would now be clear and I could start playing.
two guys get to the tee while I'm putting out, one then proceeds to stand on the tee putting his shoes on.
played a couple then gave up, if they weren't going to pass me through on the first it wasn't going to happen later and they were so slow.
