I looks like the charger for my golf cart battery has given up the ghost.

The question is do I buy another or get a diffrent type of battery charger?

Do you use the standard battery charger or us a diffrent make one?

I always used my powakaddy one when I had one and when I left the battery off charge in error or the wife knocked it off or whatever, the battery was never the same again, it went from an easy 36 holes to 15 holes....

My charger has stopped cutting out when fully charges so recently I have taken to leaving a note to remind me to unplug it when charged, otherwise the battery starts to cook!

I will just by a trickle charger on Ebay when I get round to it

Any leisure battery charger would do the job, you can get them from Halfords for a lot less than the one from your trolley manufacturer. They also do a charger that does both car batteries and leisure batteries. I would not go buying cheap ones from Ebay though as I would not trust them to automatically turn off when fully charged.

That would work fine. You just have to make sure it is the correct type. The one you have highlighted is designed for batteries that have a 1-35 Ah, so that will be fine for a trolley battery. If you get one designed for more heavy duty batteries then you run the risk of frying yours.

Yep the top two of those would cook it, these ones can be picked up for under £30 and cover 1-35Ah batteries so perfect for mine.

Be careful with chargers, as I had an expensive experience with Powakaddy a year ago. Battery was only lasting 9 holes. Pro asked me how long I had had the battery, so I said 2 years. Pro said it was the battery, and he had one in stock. Bought new battery, took home, charged it up and left on trickle charge. Come Saturday....it lasted 5 holes. Fault was in charger not battery, so charger fried a brand new battery. So then had to fork out for new charger and another new battery.

As long as you are careful you could save yourself a few quid just buying a standard battery charger. Some people just think a charger is a charger, not realising it could be designed for charging up a 500Ah battery.

Yes, could imagine that could be somewhat costly if you didn't realize your mistake and got a new battery too.
