How do Golf Societies form?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone is part of a golf society and how it formed/how do people join it.

I see at my club everyday different societies have days out there and it always looks fun to go play a new course with a large bunch of people.


Would love to do similar, perhaps going to Spain or Portugal during the winter several times.

All it takes is a group of like minded individuals to get one off the ground. They usually have some link to a pub/club or maybe work (the one I play in is a work sports and social society). Mate of mine started one with a few of the guys in the football team he used to play in. With a few mates and mates of mates it's grown into having 20-30 members.
