Read a few threads on here about forumers getting a Hole in one. Lincoln Quaker being the latest, and well done me man. It is something most of us dream of, and very few of us can Brag about. Some on more than one occasion.
But when that ball drops out of sight after your tee shot, how do/did you celebrate. Was it a quiet handshake all round or running down to the hole screaming like a delinquent and doing a mooney at your PPs who are stood on the tee shaking there heads in utter disbelief.
Thoughts please.

After 45 years of waiting and numerous close shaves, I think when (not if!!) I get one I'll probably faint :D

Only ever witnessed one once and that was on an uphill hole so I didn't even see it go in.

Anytime I have had one my celebration has been quite muted - as have been people I have seen get one. But my Bro In Law went mental when he saw mine as he had never had one or saw one - reckon the whole course heard him shouting

My one and only came in our midweek captains card, I was in the first group following the last 3 ball in a seniors open we had also been hosting that day.

The 3 ball waited for us to reach the green, as they had seen it go in, and came up and shook my hand, they were 3 guys from Scotland who had come for the open, one remarked, but smiled, that he was pleased for me, but slightly annoyed as he had just got nearest the pin on that hole.

When I told him they were the last in the seniors comp and we were in another and he'd won NP he started celebrating more than me, apparently the prize on that hole was a particular malt that he was fond of.

Disbelief, followed by walking up and looking at the ball in the hole thinking wow it really did go in.

Followed by writing the date and hole on the ball while still shaking.

both mine were in comps and both we were the last group out so no one left in the clubhouse when i got it so cheap as well;)

just a well done and a hand shake, i was surprised more than excited, i'm usually unlucky

At first i thought mine had ran off the back of the green behind the pin. So it was a delayed shock then it was yippee, a slow gallop around the green, shaking hands. Then buy everyone in the clubhouse a drink , luckily there was only about 6 people in , so it only cost me about £20 :whoo:
I tend mention it all my conversations, even the postman knows

Never got one, probably never will, but if I did I've no idea what my reaction would be. Could be motionless shock, could be dropping the club and running round like a lunatic, who knows! Probably the latter.

Last one was just a small fist pump when it went in :) Obligatory photo in clubhouse as we have a "hole in 1 board" that the latest goes on (have to feel for the guy who had his the day before me) and pics of the Boss watch I received as a brag in the clubs facebook page :)

Had a Hole in One during a comp a few years back. We put a bottle at the end of the bar with a note of who and where and anyone who wants to partake in a celebratory dram can help themselves. Works out well for everyone.

I must admit to a rather flat feeling on the green as I saw the ball in the hole. It was a blind par 3 so I didn't wee that one drop in the hole. I have however seen another shot on another par3 drop and that was a fairly raucous celebration ;-)

I'm with you on this @d4s. Only one I've had in 45yrs I was on my tod; nobody saw it; nobody about I could call on to witness me pick it out of the hole. Only I and my Maker know. I do not hold my breath waiting for a 'proper' one to turn up. I guess I'd just say something like 'thank God - at last!'

Mine was in last years club championship! So you can imagine the number of people around then!! There is a hump before the green so I didn't see it in, however, one of my mates was in the group in front and they all came onto the green whooping and hollering. I hadn't really realised what had happened until one of my playing partners said "it's gone in, you've got a hole in 1" I couldn't quite believe it tho, as I wouldn't have put it past my mate to kid around, so I did a couple of high fives but only really believed it when I got to the hole and there it was, sitting at the bottom of the cup.

Very pleased. It got around the course quite quickly and despite the clubhouse being full to the brim, the bar manager was kind to me and cut me off at around £200 so I wouldn't be too out of pocket!

Mate, what the hell - I'd rather never get a hole in one than pay £200 for the privilege! Forget that.

Some Golf insurers cover it to a certain amount as part of your policy if it happens in a comp.

I've never had one but of the three I've witnessed, two stick in the mind:

The first I ever saw was an albatross on a short par 4. Problem was the guy was playing in a bogey competition, so it only scored him +1 but still cost him in the bar!

The second was by a chap well known for being tight and never buying a round of drinks. Rather than celebrate, his face went quite ashen when he realised the financial implications :o

Went mental over my first one leaping all over the green as it was a par-4 and I just looked down into the hole thinking it had gone over the bag. The others have all been on my own but a couple have been seen by greenkeepers as they were early morning rounds.
