Played poorly today in the medal shooting a nett 77(+7) with three doubles and a triple. One of those days where everything just felt out of sorts. Hit a couple of really good shots, some ok ones and some diabolical rubbish. The putter couldn't work out if it wanted to play nicely or be a cantankerous so and so either.

Hope you played better than me.

Thought I played well today, then I noticed how many shots I dropped on the par 5's. SSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIIXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!! I just can't believe I did that, no penalty shots and I still manage two bogeys and two doubles. What a plonker.

Well I had 9 pars and 2 birdies 1 double and an OoB's for 31 pts, not a happy bunny. See other post.

Thankfully thats it for this year as far as handicap goes. Started at 2.5 finished at 2.5. No trophies, a few grosses but not a good golfing year. Roll on March.

Told you I was bad!
What do you mean? I don't think 7 over handicap is a terrible score by any means, in fact I consider that to be fairly normal.

What's your good round/bad round buffer? eg: The best/worst you'd expect to shoot on any given day (Tiger Woods 63-76)

On a good day I should be playing to or maybe one under my handicap and on a bad day like today I was happy to break 90. The problem is there is a low gross in there (74 or 75) and I have one or other nine where it clicks and I play it in a couple over but then play the other half like a zombie from Jackos Thriller video.

I think a lot of it boils down to the tempo work I've started. Not ideal for a medal as I'm sure I was getting caught between a rock and a hard place and trying to swing slower and smoother as I've been working on and trying to swing normally and fashion a score. Some shots everything felt lovely, compact and smooth and much slower and others felt like it was soooo slow going back and then so quick and jerky coming down. I spoke to my teaching pro this afternoon and he reassured me the tempo thing is going to take months to nail and that I need to focus on my swing technique too and not get overly concerned about tempo every range session.

I've a friendly game tomorrow with a guy from the club. He's a good laugh and we'll just play for the tea and toast cost afterwards so it'll be fun and hopefully a relaxed atmosphere will help everything click. Oh and the itsy is back in the bag as the Rossa has been a tease for weeks. Sometimes she'll work and other times she'll blow up in my hand from nowhere so I've sent her to the naughty step

I played like an idiot. No comps so 36 points in the swindle. How it came out like that god knows. My No3 hybrid was going 30 yards tops, my 5w wasn't much better, the driver was hopeless, iron play poor (except for one 4i which was awesome), so handicaps, ? Couldn't putt either, had 5 shanks, a few thins, a couple of tops in there too.
