record/cd/song collection?

Just on the back of the iPod/iPad thread, I'm just wondering how big peoples music collections are?

My collection is very eclectic from AC/DC to ZZ Top, Clapton to Quo, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Punk, Rock, Funk, Classical, Military, you name it, it's in there.

That's over 800 albums, or nearly 12,000 songs for my iPhone to choose from.

About 500 CD's on my iTunes and I've not coverted my vinyl yet. Everything from early Blues and Jazz, through to the likes of Unkle and The Bullitts. Taking in classic rock, Baggie, Seattle, Student Indie, Acid, Rockabilly, Country etc on the way..

I have a vinyl collection ranging from Blues and Motown to modern dance collections. Must have 800-1000 records. CD's I have around the 500 mark. Mainly consisting of rock from the 70's to now. I have around 2gb worth of music on my laptop which is the music which I currently listen to like Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria and various other bands.

Don't listen to my vinyl much do to lack of a record player!! Otherwise I'd just have them on at home all the time :)

At last count 3,146 vinyl EPs and albums but maybe more now as started buying again on Discogs. Around 4,000 MP3 files. Styles range from Floyd to Rotterdam Hardcore. Mainly electronic dance of some form (Techno, freeform, trance, gabber etc)
I used to DJ so ammassed quite a collection of vinyl and then MP3 when the deck platforms all changed.

this brings back unhappy memories of a wonderfull vinyl collection I had with 'special editions', bootlegs, US and UK editions, coloured discs, limited editions etc etc that all went 'missing' when I had to move house 3 times within 12 mths. you lose track and think its in one place then find out they are nowhere to be seen:(

I started getting the music back through MP3 downloads and copies from friends but its not the same and stopped it.....

/away for a wee greet now :(

Got me turntable up and running earlier in the year and started buying oldies from an excellent local vinyl shop. No idea of numbers but about 4ft of vinyl - Thomas Tallis through to Public Service Broadcasting.

You can get some pretty good PC compatible record players, hook one up to your PC and you'll be able to have a good reminis and copy them to your hard drive at the same time.
