In my quest to break a 100 and so far not succeeding I've put a lot of this down to putting.

With having a young family time is tight so I practice at home on carpet and set up 5 marks starting at 3ft going back 1ft at a time to 7ft.

Very simple keep going until I miss a putt and then start again, so far my best run after 2 30 minute goes is 7 putts

What would you guys expect to be scoring?

You don't sound bad at putting at all... Definately won't be with practice like that.

Really hard to guess this - cool challenge - but reckon I could muster up 15-20?? Then again, who knows. Gonna try it tonight though:D

Not sure what I'd score in the game, but I'd be interested to know why you blame your putting.

Always remember, no matter bad a putt is, you never lose a ball with it. Many people grab their driver, carve a ball into the woods, costing themselves two strokes and they haven't even moved the ball yet, and then blame a missed 50/50 putt for their score.

Find a way, any way really, to keep the ball in play and you'll break 100 before you know it.

Then, of course, work on your putting. It can't hurt to practice.

keep going, you should really be looking to make 4-5 of those sets for a total of 20-25, miss one and have to start again to build pressure. That is working on your stroke, which is very important but putting is as much about pace and line as anything else. Try the same drill on the putting green when you get a chance.

I just bought 'The little book of indoor golf games' basically just putting though and there are some varied games to keep it interesting and keep testing yourself. Might be worth a look if you can't get to the course very often.

toward my kitchen is right to left break, toward the front door its also right to left?! i do similar but just a static distance, usually around 6 ft and i try to get 20...

you're going to be unbeatable if they replace turf with Axeminster

There are 24 hours in a day,imo plenty of time to practice.
Half an hour a day twice a week should see you improve considerably,it
all comes down to how much you want it.

First of all, have you got a putter that suits you?

When I first started I chopped and changed clubs loads as it was obvious it must be the clubs fault not mine :-) but I've settled with a Taylormade Spider or as my friend likes to call it "the millennium falcon" find it really helps me with my aim just need to work on length now.

Only 2 days into this so not expecting to improve in such a short space of time but just wondered what other peoples targets would be just to get a feel for where I should be aiming for.

Thanks for the link Canary_Yellow will defiantly give that a try over the next week to mix it up.

To be honest, for a 7 foot straight putt on my carpet at home into one of those "ball returner" type holes I can pretty much hole them all night and only miss a handful.

Trouble is, that doesn't translate to the course!

Keep at it but I would be looking a lot more at course management if you are still struggling to break 100. It suggests and I apologise if I'm wrong, that you still have some big numbers during the round. If you can get rid of these, then a reasonably solid putting stroke will help. half decent short game is a fast track to saving shot too. I hope the practice pays off on the course and you have a great season and break 100 regularly
