Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so appologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

I'm after a set of Ping G20, and noticed they seemed very cheap on this site.

Any idea how they do it? The website is:

b2psports dot co dot uk

Thanks, Phil

I'll give the the benefit of my doubt by not assuming you are trying to plug this web site, and instead say welcome to the forum.

Because they are fakes

Any web site, no matter what they sell, with ridiculously cheap prices, bad English no phone number and a contact address of 'Our Address: West London UK Email Address: b2psportsuk@gmail.com' should raise more alarm bells than a nuclear reactor that is about to blow. Avoid it like the plague.

Also another clue is that Ping do not allow their clubs to be sold directly on web sites without you having to ring them up before you order one.

No ideas how they do it but certainly don't look like a decent site to me as the contact email address is a gmail one and the contact address is 'West London UK' so I would not be going anywhere near them.

I have taken the below quote from their Contact Us page in the Recent Reviews section:

Reply: Hi, thank you for your message. Yes, we now have Maruman golf clubs in stock. We are based in UK. But we do offer phone service. If you have any question, please feel free to contact us by email.

No phone number is listed on the site so I would not go anywhere near them.

Ping do not allow direct selling of their clubs on the Internet. If they are cheap they are either pre owned or fake.I can't seem to find this site either.welcome to the forum.

Faker than a fake thing on a fake day during a fake year within a fake month as part of a fake year - Fake

Wow - fantastic response!

Thanks so much for useful feedback.

OK then, looks like I'm going to be buying second hand, which is fine.

Is there much difference between G5s , G15s and G20 Ping irons?

I'm left handed so finding second hand G15s isn't easy.

Many thanks.

As a fellow lefty I know what you are saying. Golfbidder is about the best bet for not ending up with fakes, lefthandedgolf have a second hand section as well and they will be kosha. http://www.lefthandedgolf.co.uk/left-handed-ping-g20-left-handed

With ebay you pays your price and takes your chances really, there are plenty of genuine second hand sets out there, but plenty of fakes as well. You will need to be a bit internet/ebay savvy to spot them (if someone says they are an unwanted present or they won them in a competition then that should raise alarm bells straight away) , and if you did not spot the original site you posted to was a fake then be careful.;)

As for the difference then there is very little difference between subsequent models in any manufacturers range, but the more ranges apart there are the more difference there is. The G20s will be a bit more forgiving and possibly longer than the G5s. Not by huge amounts, but there will be some. I have some G30s, and the G range by Ping are in my opinion the best range you can get for well engineered clubs, without gimmicks (OK turbulators aside) that actually do very little, that will give you help and forgiveness at a decent price. But then again I would say that. Ping are an engineering company first that market golf clubs, other companies are turning more into marketing companies that engineer golf clubs.

It's not normal that older models are better than newer incarnations of irons. I don't think you would go far wrong if you buy G15's. Worth looking at Golfbidder to get an idea of price and availability.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

"When being in front of so many great golf clubs, you will find it difficult to decide which are the proper ones you should own in hands. As we all know, we would usually choose our golf clubs from several different aspects. Generally speaking, we would firstly consider on the launch, spin and forgiveness of the clubs. And among these, I think forgiveness is what most players would like to pay attention to. In view of forgiveness, you can still have a wide range of golf clubs for your choices.
If you have ever hit the ping g25 driver or ping g25 irons, you should know they are the clubs with much forgiveness. And they can surely be one of the most forgiving golf clubs without any doubt. Think of the G25 as a more compact version of the company’s Karsten irons, with shorter shafts, smaller blade lengths and narrower soles that add versatility to their design. We love their stealthy black finish and for an iron their size they feel very solid thanks to Ping’s thoughtfully engineered Custom Tuning Port and multi-material insert that softens the blow at impact.
But how about the new g30? Are you still coming with much forgiveness? The answer is yes. Actually, when all the talking and technical detail ends, it's time to hit the product and see how it looks and performs. In my opinion, the G30 is the same but longer, looks better, sounds better and spins a little less. For example, The G30 driver is longer, looks better, sounds better and spins a little less than the G25. Still, the way he pured the G30 fairway, both from the tee and off the fairway, would suggest it is a real winner. The flight was powerful and the sound was just so.
In addition, the Ping g30 irons are also with much forgiveness which you can use to improve your clubspeed. They are probably the product line that looks most like their predecessors. But here, too, there are small but significant improvements. Better players might turn their nose up at the wedge, but further up the set is a look that only purists could grumble at.
In a word, the g30 clubs can be proper ones for both players with low and ing handicappers. No matter what your golf level is, you can have a try with the new g30 golf clubs. You will be proud once you can play your best in performance with these clubs"

I couldn't have wroted it any better myself.
