Some guy from Grantham has grown the hottest chilli in the world. It's called the Infinity.

Just to give you a benchmark, the normal chilli that you'd buy from a supermarket is a Jalapeno which would rate at 8,000 on the Scoville scale.

This bad boy rates at 1,257,468 on the same scale. Over 150 times hotter!

I was friendly with the guy that bred that variety. He runs a forum I was a member on. I have eaten chillis as hot as that before, and yes they are worse than you'd ever imagine.
 
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer eats the insanity chilli and halucinates! Why would you even want to try that. I've eaten chicken phall curries and they blew my head off (ok I was usually drunk) and so anything like that is madness
 
You can find hotter sauces. Blaire's pure reserve is 16 million scovilles. But this is the hottest chile itslef. The man himself with the surname of blaire spent 3 days in hospital after eating 1 crystal (very small) and couldn't speak for weeks.
