Probably won't interest many given my handicap but it was my first medal of my first full playing season yesterday. I had 1 par, 4 bogeys and 7 handicap pars. Had one nightmare hole with a lost ball and some bad luck on the others. Only really posting as no-one at work interested.

Always good to get the first one under your belt, well done on the pars. There's always one nightmare hole though with me too.

Nice, always good to feel your game is going the right way.

On my first (and only) competition last year I scored a total of 17 Stapleford points. So well done!!

I decided it wasnt worth the humiliation until I improved my game a little. My first club competition this year I am available for is the 31st of May (bloody work schedule!) and I have a society tournament next weekend.

I hope to follow your example and score well!

Well done - this'll make you feel better -here's my nightmare hole from yesterday a 180yd Par 3.

Shot 1, landed on green rolled back into bunker; feeling robbed

Shots 2 and 3 bunker shot, not much sand in base, so shot 3 was a double hit with ball running back form lip to close to second shot - a bit p----d off!

Shot 4 and 5 another double hit repeat of 2 & 3 - couldn't believe it: getting annoyed.

shot 6 - finally out of bunker to within 2yds of pin - really p--d off.

shot 7 - down-hill put, hit too firm rolls past a yd - serves me right.

shot 8 - catches left lip and does a 180 - couldn't care less by now.

shot 9 - drops. Not in good mood - taking up Dominos !!!!

Sounds positive, we all have nightmare holes, but clearly some good ones in there as well.

Keep playing the comps and the handicap will soon come down!

Always think the first couple of events in the year are only a refresher before the serious business of finding form takes place. Shouldn't put too much pressure on these and just enjoy being competitive again.

I don't bother playing too many qualifiers until the season is well underway when I've woken up from winter golf. Feel lots fresher during the summer months then.

Well done. Like you I'm playing relatively consistantly apart from the one horror which takes me away from a buffer finish at worse and potentially a cut. Keep plugging away and I'm sure you'll find a rich vein of form and get some good cuts soon

Well done and it's a good solid start for you and something for you to build on

And regards of your handicap chellie people will always be interested in fellow golfers doing well and feeling positive

Why, as golfers, do we only seem to remember the bad luck on the course :)

Anybody can have a nightmare hole, (look at Leftie on the 12th at the recent masters). I made a double the other day, (a nightmare hole for me as that's 2/3 of my handicap in one hole). Not too bad at the start of a round as you have a chance of getting the shots back, unfortunately mine came on the 16th.

Thanks all:) Am wary of posting how good some of my golf was being off 36:o I missed a put on our 3rd Par 5 which gave me a par instead of a birdie:angry:

Anyway, went out for bunker and chipping practice last night. Put that to good use today when HID and I played scratch matchplay over 9. He said I kept the pressure on him but he did win 4 and 2.
