The course was open today for the Christmas comp and only 4 greens were temps. They were very wet on top where the frost was laying a few inches into the ground stopping it going anywhere. If you put a pitch mark repairer in your could feel the frozen ground an inch or so down. They weren't great for putting but better than nothing.

Bearing in mind I hadn't played for 6 weeks I was pretty chuffed with my 32 points especially when I sliced the first one straight OB right to start with a six and nil points.

I actually hit it ok and had no three putts which was pleasing. How did everyone else get on

Spent my seasons winnings SGU vouchers (a massive £41! ) in the Scottish Golf Centre at Leith on Bridgestone golf balls and a Titleist cabretta glove - it wasn't golfing but the next best thing I suppose.
Wanted those Under Armour winter trousers but not done in my size it seems alas ~(big waist/short leg :o).

Played friday and although the air temp was +5 or more, the ground was still rock solid. Except for.the 5 yards infront of the greens which was soft!?
Add to that, all pins were 2ft from the front. So you couldn't pitch on the green and you couldn't pitch short either as the ball stuck. Complete waste of time. And as its going to freeze again this week I reckon that's me for this year. Not going to play on frozen ground anymore. Oh and Fragger won. But only because he played slightly less sh1t than me....

Temps all weekend. Fed up with temps. We must be the only course for 30 miles that are faffing about on temps. Got the right strop on. Told we can't walk on the greens because it will cause irrepairable damage. Yet the practice green is open, and all year it is the best green on the course. How come? It's all bull, and I'm fed up.

Fed up of Watford. Not playing again til the greens are on, some time next March if I'm lucky.

5 over gross which I was after 3 holes.

Should have been better as i got it back to 2 over but finished in a similar style to the start.

Just nice to be back out there.

Interesting array of shots in places, and that was just the first.

Greens were in a similar condition to yours Martin except they were rolling pretty good and no temps.

Only sad point was that some buggers have been on the course with a quad bike or something which damaged a couple of fairways and greens.

We had temps today, but we're back on greens tomorrow. We do 3 club challenge in our roll up when its on temps which is really fun and you have to invent shots.

Out of the 4 temps we had, the 13th and 15th and 16th I can understand because they are sheltered and so don't get much sun but our 9th was no different from the 1st which was open and only 100 yards away. No idea why that was shut. Spoilt the flow of the front nine and having made two consecutive up and downs including a sand save at 8 I was on a roll until I had to try and hit the temp. Would rather have gone for the proper green with long iron or hybrid. More chance of making the shot.

Still good to be back out again after everything goign on outside of golf. Practice tomorrow and a day off on Wednesday although chances are the whole course will be back on temps by then

Went to Castle Combe, absolutely no way it should have been open. The sheltered greens still had snow (which was now white ice) on them.

But it was great to be out again, cabin fever had set in.

Moved about a 2000 tonne of sand.

Very productive.

I take it you were working on your bunker play Andy, I dont think your supposed to take jist as much sand as that ;)

Ye m8, treated myself to a new wedge haha

Tends to dig in a lot though, teeth need more bounce lol

We were on full greens and tees today although there had been a heavy frost overnight.
Unbelievably managed a 7 over gross with a double bogy thrown in to take the swindle cash......happy days!! :D

Murph, get yourself up to our course...hardly ever closed....no temp tees or greens. Some of the quickest greens in Hertfordshire as well.

What's wrong with the rest of them?Wouldn't fancy playing at a course that has greens running at different paces

Played yesterday in a 4BBB.
Came 5th with 40pts.

No temps but not in great condition with loads of little indentations. You can tell when repairing pitchmarks that the ground is still frozen about half an inch down.
