Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has made a homemade golf net/cage(not looking at an off the shelf one, as I like to make stuff).

If you did do you have a link to the netting you used ? (I only ask as netting seems to vary a lot in price and don't wish to buy one that after a few hits, starts letting balls though the netting, as it may make a mess of the shed!)

Also if you have bought a mat that you like, which one did you buy ?

Many thanks

Darren

I bought a £4 bristle door mat from Wilkos to practice my swing on and it feels exactly the same as a range mat. At £4 it's worth a punt for you.
I also hit 30% practice balls into a heavy sheet hung over a washing line. Works great for me.

This caused me to have quick look at how much a proper nice mat is.

No wonder ranges don't replace their mats until there is a hole worn through the bottom, bloody hell.

I've got a used range mat if you want it?

shrewsbury may just be a little to far though. And I'm not posting it

Wow thats is a very kind offer, thanks. Sadly as you say probably a little to far to travel. But thank you.

Yeah Hosel fade, the mats are lots of money and some are really cheap(like off ebay), so really don't know what is good or bad. I am lucky to have a shed that came with the house that I can build a good sized net in for me and my son.

You can buy mats http://www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/product-category/golf-mats/

or you can buy 'grass' that you can push a tee into, like this :- http://www.evergreensuk.com/product/tee-grass/

Just worried if I spend the money I have been saving up on something rubbish.

Thanks for your replies.

Not sure how long they'll last, but artificial grass may be the answer to the mat. B&Q do it as well as proper fake grass companies like TruLawn. I think my local garden centre sells it too. Could be worth a shout?

I would get in contact with local courses and ranges to find a mat. our head greenkeeper had an old lying around which he let me have - legend.

I've got this net - http://www.thegolfshoponline.co.uk/...zX8Y58EL_eSrlBXJkF57lMxV4pcDrJeqygaAnCs8P8HAQ

Its perfect because it folds down so easily and pops up in seconds. there's no connecting poles or anything.

I used door mats for about 5 years. The best ones are the cheap ones with tight rushing and a rubber base.

I now have this. It's awesome.
