Has anyone played hollins hall before or stayed there?

16 of us goin down in may
Don't know what to expect typical resort course

Is the course actually any good or just looking for money to make out of hotel?

Played there last year and the course is OK. However, do not be tempted to go for the green on the hole with the viaduct as the green is surrounded by trouble and the chances of a lost ball are immense. 8/7 iron and then wedge is the best bet.

I played there last year, thought it was fantastic. Not too impressed with the greenskeeper who decided to cut holes on crests of hill though. The viaduct is one of my favourite holes I have played - very tempting to try pull off a wonder drive and go for it....but just knock one down into the bottom instead...save the embarrassment.

Played there a couple of times on weekends away.

Well worth the money in my opinion. Scenic course - some wonderful holes and challenges & lots of interest each hole. Very welcoming place.

Best tip I have is take the buggy thats offered to the first tee - its a steep steep hill to get up otherwise!

Stayed over twice - hotel is OK, the meal we had was decent but basic (included in the package we bought so read as cheap as we could get), beer was good!

We happened to go on the day the golf club was having its annual bash in the evening and that was lively and fun.

Stayed and played some years ago.

Pretty much exactly what I expected from a Hotel course. Food good value Drinks/wine not so. Course adequate if, mainly, unspectacular.

If they offer you a lift on buggies to the first - take it! That and the viaduct hole only truly memorable parts of the course. Wonderful views though.
