Looking at going away in June/July for 3+ nights staying in a house big enough for 6 adults 2 kids and a dog. Looking for idea's for places within 2 hours of Bradford - stayed around the lakes/north yorkshire so not really looking for round there. Stayed in Beadnell, Northumberland and really enjoyed it but can't get the same place and struggling for other options.

All other idea's would be greatly appreciated. Ideally within walking distance of a nice village or coastal and not too far out of the way.

Have a look at this companies offerings. http://www.northumbria-cottages.co.uk/

Alnmouth would tick the boxes for you and this lot have most of Alnmouth tied up. If Alnmouth pricing is high then see if they offer anything in Lesbury, a 2 minute walk away from Alnmouth but offering slightly cheaper prices.

If you are tempted to book drop me a pm for which one you are looking at. I know the area, in-laws live in Alnmouth and I can steer you away from any banana skins.

Owners direct, sykes, cottages4you,English country cottages, Marshy.

Can throughly recommend Alnmouth/Alnwick area.

Also Buxton, Bakewell in the peak district and Whitby in N Yorks.

Just been looking through most of them sites Pete, cheers. We drove through Alnmouth/Alnwick when we visited Beadnell last year but forgot about it, so thanks all for reminding me.

Think I've recently seen something on Buxton on country file or similar so will check that too and other recommendations too.

I'll discount Reeth as we've stayed up Richmond way and visited a few times but it is a beautiful place, fantastic walks and country pubs.

Keep any more suggestions coming especially around North Wales too, never been.

Buxton is a nice little spa town, lovely countryside surrounds it, decent night out as well.

Have you been to Whitby - Whitby has it all.

Haven't been to Whitby for years. Kids and wife have, infact my wife and her year group are going in May.

Cheers all, will have a proper look this weekend.
