Just wondering if anybody else suffers from the same problem that I'm experiencing.

I bought a new pair of Footjoy AQL's the other week and so far have put holes in the big toe of my socks every time I've worn them!

Now, my feet are perfectly normal, never had this problem with any other golf shoe I've worn but I'm sure the missus will soon be drawing the line at the number of new pairs of socks I'll be asking her to get for me!

Anybody else had similar bother with Footjoy shoes?

No, but my husband seems to go through socks, big toe everytime, like they are going out of fashion, particularly with his work shoes. He only has to wear a pair 2 or 3 times and we can't seem to find any explaination for it :D
I'm contemplating taking shares out with tesco's men's wear if this keeps up.

Do your claws need trimmed basher? Its happened to me before when my nails were rubbing against the toes of the shoes and wore one of socks through.
What a great thing to admit to on the internet brendy! genius.

:D Can't women darn socks anymore? For goodness sake they are getting off with too much these days, what with automatic washing machines, microwaves and ready meals and the like they have far too much time on their hands. They'll be playing golf next and stopping us hard working men from enjoying ourselves. :p

Even the slightest difference of fit or design can have an effect.

You may have a particular way of applying pressure on different parts of your feet or toes when playing that creates a rub, more in one make of shoe than another and this may be un-noticable if the shoe feels comfy.

I dont think many golfers fully understand what their feet are going through when they play golf? There is a lot of short term pressure and friction going on in them there shoes, and some people apply more than is required witout knowing it.

I am guessing that bacause AQL's have a high toe with lots of room you are scrunching your toes in the swing and this is causing wear and tear on your new socks. I found the same with my FJ reelFits and I also had sore toes due to my toes digging in on the swing.

Hey Basher,
Are your new shoes wider than your old ones, allowing your feet too slide about a little more? Either that or you have feet like a Hobbit ;o).
Ive just got some Footjoy Synrg and they are the most comfortable shoes i have ever worn and i would reccomend them to anyone.

I will have to admit, I have the same problem, though not every game, but deffo a problem.....I noticed the problem, though only on my right foot.

I can only say its the motion the foot goes through to get to the finish of the swing, plenty of rubbing going on :)

not unusual to just get the problem with one sock, we all have 'odd' feet.

I was planning a post on socks but I'll hitch a ride instead.

I too have new AQL's, not quite as comfortable as LT's but pretty good for 36-holes first time out.

But, I cannot find a comfortable pair of socks, certainly none that will last more than one or two washes, they all feel like coconut matting then. I'm going to try the cheap Tesco sports socks, then chuck them (only adds 34p/round) but any surefire solutions will be welcomed.

I have had the same issue at times with all my shoes. After extensive testing I put it down to a combination of 2 things:

1. Big toe nails too long
2. Socks either too thin or of a bad quality

With regards to sock choice I now wear either Nike Sports socks (about £7 for 6 pairs in JJB), FootJoy Dri-Joy socks or Nike Dri-Fit Ankle socks (when wearing shorts). So far after a number of washes there are no holes, and they are all still very comfortable to wear.

You could try a shop that sells proper running shoes, which will sell the 1000 mile running socks, very comfy. I wore them when I did the London Marathon some years ago and never got a single blister!

Golfmmad.

I've solved all such problems with holey socks. I bought 2 pairs of selina scott socks (www.selinascott.com) and they're fab. They're pure wool and thick but you can wear them any time, even in the summer. And, get this, they DO NOT smell.

Trust me on this, guys.
