Hole in one today

I had a hole in one today but it was really strange leading up to it. First time out today with my future brother in law and only his 2nd 18 holes. He had seen me use my laser range finder on various holes but on the 8th hole he asked what it was. I said its a range finder and that when I point it at the 8th flag it tells me it's 155yards I then said to him as you get to play more you will know how far you hit each club. I said 155 is a 7 iron. He said if you hit it 155 it should go in the hole then. We both laughed and I said hope so. Bang 7 iron to 154.5 and in the hole I was amazed he was in total shock. Strange but true.

It's my 2nd hole in one. As for the ball I was using a prov1 but left it in my bag so used the ball in my pocket that I just found in the rough. A Srixon distance ball. Never used one before but that might change after this. The course was Taunton vale in somerset was a £13 twilight green fee.

Do people keep the ball after a hole in one. The ball in question I continued to use for the next 10 holes.And Now it's just in my bag some where.

Don't worry about it. I am still waiting after 30-odd years too. it (usually) takes a good shot to get close, but there is an element of dumb luck involved in whether it will fall in the hole. I have holed out with a 6 iron on a par-4, full wedges on par 5s and many shots on par-3s which ended up a foot behind directly behind the hole, but none of them went in. No big deal.
