Because of the conditions my course decided to have two holes on each green, with only 1 flag. Never seen this kind of thing before.

What happens if you tee off and the ball lands in the other hole for an ace? Sure I know you can't class it as hole in one because technically you weren't aiming for that hole. Is it an unofficial one? A freak of nature? Also do you take it out, move it a club head width away without losing a stroke? What's the rule on this kind of thing?

Why? I dont understand that policy!

We have the same thing on our course at the moment, I have not see it before either.

I would assume you place it to the side of the hole,, I would also say that if the hole not in use is on the line of your putt you are allowed to get relief.

Common occurrence in New Zealand. You take relief if on line of putt and if have gone in the hole just pick out and carry on, alas not a hole in one, saw it happen on couple of occasions.

This was in place on a course I played at last week (not my usual course). The conditions were very frosty (ice patches in places) and I can only assume the unflagged hole was left in place some days prior to the deteriorating weather in order to ensure the pin position could be changed.

At my usual course there is a winter rule that dictates the ball can be moved (to the nearest point of relief) on any putting surface/closely mown area if the ball, or projected path of the ball, would be impeded by such holes/green-keepers workings

Was that one of your five or not?

5? I've had 3 not including that le chow.

You are clearly half remembering a post where I said i have had 3 and seen another 2.

best put that fishing rod away.

Seen the "two holes on a green" thing quite a few times. I think your meant to play to one hole, but then put the flag back in the other. Spreads the amount of wear and tear when the greens take that bit longer to spring back from foot-prints etc...

Never seen / heard of that but it does make sense for general play (obviously not a comp but not many of them this time of year).

We have 'plugs' in the out of use holes in the temps that have green astro on the top so the ball rolls over them like grass - these plugs get swapped for the flags and the plug put in hole in the green when a temp is put into play.
