So, last Saturday was our first medal of the year (and my first ever). Had the WORST round I have had since I started playing. 117 gross and dead last in Division 3. By about 5 shots.

Then Wednesday, was playing up in Finchley on an Army Golf Association competition and managed to win the afternoon Stableford with 38 pts. Happy Days! First win etc etc. :)

So today was our club's first "Major" and it was a stableford but had to play off max 24. Thought to myself, what the hell, might as well have a bash. Off to a terrible start and had about 3 points off the first 4 holes. Started to pick up a little after the 5th and ended up on 12 points for the front 9. Then played reasonably over the next 4 holes, picking up 7 points on our hardest stretch. Blobbed the 14th due to a silly tee shot into the trees and then trying to hit a heroic shot out of the trees. Anyways, I finished par, par, par, birdie for my best ever finishing stretch and 20 points on the back 9. All in all I managed to keep it together and rescue a round from the doldrums that ended up 32 points off of 24 h'cap and would have been 36 off my own.

I can feel the improvement there, particularly in my putting, I just need to get it together in a club medal round now and I should be able to get a cut or two. :)

I know the feeling.
The day before I shot my best ever round I shot a 96 in perfect conditions and prompty got pissed.
Next day (thankfully in the afternoom) I shot a 72 around my home track (which is 5 shots harder (according to SSS)

Still waiting for it to happen again

I've had a mixed 24 hours. Played an away day at Sand Martins with HTL yesterday. Relaxed (although he got severely wound up by the pace of play) and not worried about how I played knowing I wasn't playing great. Played half decent on the whole and truth be known almost enjoyed myself. Out today in a medal and it was sheer hell. Net 81 off 12 (par 70) and I couldn't string anything together. It was like I'd just taken the game up. The only thing I got out of playing was 0.1 on the handicap and sunburn.

Taking a break from playing and practicing after tomorrow's bounce game. Not touching the clubs for a week. Nothing to do with the swing, short game or putting. No range sessions or practice ground visits or evening sojourns to the putting green. A golf free week. After that we'll hit it and find it (hopefully) and hit it again for a bit and then review the situation

Good on you Homer.
A break will recharge the batteries....
I went out today and play a singles stroke play and went around in 100 off a handicap of 19 to give me 81...Par 73..
I had been going ok until i reached our par 3 13th and then the wheels fell off.
Im blaming a bad nights sleep on it plus the 22 degrees of sun we were playing in..... By the time i came onto the 16th i was so knackered i could hardly swing a club and all the water and snacks couldnt get me going.

Roll on next weekend :D
