But still managed to knock it round in 78, 8 over! I'm quite happy considering I hadn't set foot on a course for around ten years back in June! Glad to see that the practice means its starting to come back, even if hitting balls on the range is not the most pleasant of experiences given the weather we're having!

The one thing I've noticed is with age and life experience comes patience and a little bit of common sense. What's the point of hitting driver on a 300 yard par 4 when a dink down the fairway with an iron still leaves a nice short iron into the green.

no played in ten years and you shoot 8 over! damn you, damn you to hell!!!

Good shooting dude, what was your handicap before the break? i assume was very low!!

Cheers guys! Notice I haven't mentioned the few preceeding rounds that I had...

At my lowest I got down to 11 but the things that held me back back then were a poor temperament and dodgy course management. I lacked patience and was so strike oriented - if I wasn't hitting it "pure" I'd convince myself there was no way of scrambling round to make a score and try and fix swing mechanics on the tee. On my return I've learned play with what you've got, try and keep it in play and if you're a bit wayward, be consistently wayward and allow for it!

Its frustrating I've wasted a good few years not playing yet at the same time it makes it even more pleasurable to enjoy not just the game but also the social aspects, the fresh air and at the moment the weather.
