well well well ...... what a strange year 2008 was .... startin the year i was playing crap !!! then went on to have my best ever year shooting single figures regularly , then low and behold got bloody injured and never played the same .. i was that cheesed off i packed it in and even jacked the forum on golf monthly, as it turned out the injury needed surgery which i had 8 weeks ago ..... those 8 weeks i had off work started off boring , then i started thinking about golf again and how i could go from playing to a pretty good standard to such a poor satndard , it was that bad i was playing worse than when i took up the game ... out of boredom i began to swing irons in my back garden , i could not hit balls as the surgery was on my left hand . i wondered where i was going wrong as my swing felt as awfull as it did when i packed it in in the early summer... i decided to video my swing on my phone and try to work out the faults which im hoping will be the re-invention of hippygilmore , up until now i have only hit plastic balls ... however , because of the amount of spare time i have had i have been able to develop a posture which looks athetic and i am swinging with ease and look to be in good areas in all the critical areas of a good swing , this has left me feeling confident and i cant wait to draw out that driver on the first at my club ... im going to be patient and leave it until the new year whilst i keep grooving the new swing .... now i realise i havent played for nearly 6 months and the proof is in the pudding , but !! i know what a good swing looks like and i look like im swinging pretty good , so watch this space...

it seems to me that you dont have to spend a fortune on lessons , just a good understanding of the game , spend some time on building yourself a good posture , time practising the swing whilst videoing your self and working on those common faluts to groove an effortless effceient swing ......

well its good to be back and hungry for 2009 to be the best ever .. i also look forward to being back involved in the forum as i used to have some good chats on here .... so heres to 2009

And here was me thinking you had chained yourself 100ft up a tree in the middle of a golf course in protest.

Anyway, good to have you back.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about the surgery but please don't rush it. You aren't missing anything with the cold wet conditions and there is a whole golfing year to enjoy.

My advice is to build up slowly but go and get a lesson or two before you get back onthe course as self teaching is difficult and changing one thing can lead to something else going wrong unless looked at properly
