After watching my friend **** take an unprecedented 23 strokes on a hole recently I was wondering what everybodys personal record is for a high score on one hole. For the record **** is a fine golfer off 13 but got caught in the evilist bunker on our course, took 20 to get out and then 1 putted.
As far as i can remember I took atleast one 12 on my first visit to a golf course in 1995 but thats as high as i've ever gone. A couple of 10's this year tho :)

Luckily there was no-one else on the course apart from me and **** and his son as the wind and rain were out in force and it was an early Saturday tee off. I thought my pancreas had burst with all the laughing - I really tried to stay supportive and encouraging after the first 3 escape attempts but then he gave in and was laughing and I couldn't stop then after that. I did rake the bunker tho which took about 7 minutes.

Come on - be brave people - no-ones dared tell about there worst score yet - don't be shy. John Daly's taken a 20+ before and he's a double major winner!

10 on a par 3, put it in the water twice before I nailed it over the back of the hole into a bunker with a lip bigger than Mick Jaggar.

14 is my best. Finished with the same ball too. Didn't know the rules (lesson here people - know the rules). Hit the tee shot (3 wood) 15 yards sideways into a fence. Should have declared unplayable and gone back to the tee, but didn't. 7 shots later I have moved it about 4 feet. Finished with the inevitable 3 putts too.

Have also shot a net 70 in medal with an 11 on the first.

He kept going for the pin yes, but his ball was pretty much against the face of the bunker and there was precious little shot choice he had really. When it did get out it just perched on a hill for a second then rolled back in to the sand, in all his footprints even closer to the face than before! He tried a variety of approaches - loose grip, tight grip, open stance, shut face, open face, hard swing, splash shot, intentional fluff....eventually it landed on the hill and rolled forwards onto the green from where he putted out from 30 feet!

I've been into double figures plenty.

The funniest I saw was about 5 years ago. A guy in the group in front put his tee shot on a par 3 into the greenside bunker and we stopped counting at 15 attempts to get out - as much the bunker as him. :D

Ok, this happened to me last week.....on the 9th of my local course(earlswood in swansea)dog leg left par 5..Hit my driver 230 yard striaght into the pond in the middle of the fairway..teed up another ball, this time with a 3 wood...same result...this went on with a 5 wood, a 3 iron and a 4 iron...all with the same results..by this time myself and my plying partners were wetting ourselves..went down to a 5 iron and managed to keep it short of the water, so off the tee for 10 left myself about 200 yards left to the green, because by now I was not a happy bunny and my temper was up I thought i would hit a 5 iron short of the green and chip on and 2 putt(making 14)however I then managed to hit my 5 iron about 2 miles straight up in the air and land in the water 10 yards away from me.so dropped another ball and this time creamed my 5 iron straight over the back of the green into the biggest gause bush on the course , 3 shots later i am on the green and then proceded to 3 putt for a wonderful score of 19 shots an a par 5...as you can imagine I did not have the best round....but it does make me laugh thinking about it now :D :D :D

If the pond was in the fairway, you needn't have played again from the tee. Surely it was a water hazard and you could have taken a drop?

You are right but I new from the way the ball was flying that it went into the water, so I was determined to hit a good shot off the tee(ego lol)the thing i forgot to mention was that my playing partners all cleared the water with their drives.....in ionsight I should have taken the drop but ego wouldn't let me....

7 off the tee, 3 shots to get within 20 foot of the flag and a chip and 2 putt gave me a score of 13 on a par 4. The worst I have ever done since I started playing properly

When I first ever played though-about a year and a bit ago (I had never been to a range or anything) I took a 24 on a par 5, despite thinking that I had done pretty well to score a 12. The person I was playing with told me my real score at the end of the hole as I was at the time unaware that you could not ground your club in a bunker, so when I went in a bunker on this hole I proceeded to ground my club numerous times and take some practice swings. My score was therfore 24, and the guy I was playing with said that letting me make the mistake was the best way to learn. I never did it again thats for sure.

Managed an eleven at a 170yd par 3 and played every one !

Took two "miracle shots" on and very quickly realised what percentage golf was about.

Ah well at least I single putted so it could have been worse!
