high or low ball flight...???

I have a pretty high ball flight, which I'm not upset about because on the odd occasion my approach shots are on target, they don't tend to have any trouble staying on the green (it's very rare that this happens!)

i went to the range today and noticed that i have quite a high ball flight. I got my irons custom fitted using flightscope and the fitter said everything looked spot on yet i found today at the range the ball seemed to launch quite high. TThe distance was still there so im guessing its not such a bad thing as like you say when the ball hits the green there is a better chance of it staying there.

My cop out answer is that I'd like a swing and requisite skills that allowed me to hit either depending on the shot needed.

If I had to stick with one, it would depend on the type of golf I play most of the time. The links boys on here would probably say low, while us southern parkland jessies would like it higher to drop and stop it.

Bigfoot, I see you have Burner 2s, which are marketed as a higher launching GI iron, so that will play a part in your high flight. If it really bugs you , it's worth rememebring that a lot of other irons will give you a lower flight if you change eventually.

i have only just got these irons, i had a custom fit!!!

I have a fairly high natural ball flight, but I can hit it low when needs must. I like the higher ball flight as it suits the courses that I predominantly play, and it means that I can judge the total distance better...

I'd like to have all 9 flights.

Cut - low, medium, high
straight - low, medium, high
Draw - low, medium, high

Must....... resist..........

My ball flight is quite low. Especially with the driver, I can get it to go higher but then the direction is drawn from Guinevere with set of balls No.4!

Used to be high but new irons and the correct shafts have resulted in a lower flight with plenty of stop - 4 iron stops in 10ft. At anything over a 14hcp flight and trajectory are too random to be a meaningful problem - just hit the thing. If You hit it high and short - hit one or 2 clubs more attempting anything else will result in dropped shots rather than success a majority of the time.

low low and lower if i can get it..... play links golf you see.

But current thinking seems to be 'keep it high' as current equipment makes ball spin less. But wind still plays hell with my ball. 'scratches head'
