Just wondering if many here use a higher lifted hybrid?

I had a shot today from heavy wet rough about 175 from green. Usually for me this is about a 5 iron. As the rough was wet and ball sitting down a little I decided to take my 3 hybrid and swing nice and easy. Great result and ball popped out nicely and finished couple of yards right if green. Don't think I'd have got as good a result with the iron shot.

Later in round I had a couple of shots from similar wet rough from around 150 yards to green. Had to really try dig the ball out with a 7 iron, results were average. I was thinking a hybrid again would have been a great option to just pop ball out. Obviously 3 hybrid would be too much from that distance but was thinking something like a 5/6 hybrid might be a handy club to have in the bag.
Would only be for speciality shots like the situations I pointed out but I've only 13 clubs in bag so have space for one more

Anybody gone down the road of carrying a high loft rescue for the shots I described?

I have a 25 degree hybrid for those exact reasons. It's a lot easier getting them out of the semi rough with hybrids so if you have a gap in your bag, go for it

That's what I'm thinking. There might be plenty rounds where I never use it but if it only saved me a shot every 3 rounds or something it would be worth it.

I have a ping G15 27 degree hybrid that will be going in the for sale section shortly
When playing with Bobmac & GB72 last year bob questioned if they could put gents shafts in club heads designed for ladies

Cheeky Bob :)

22 & 25 in the bag all the time (& on occasion a 27)

When are the gonna sell iron sets in 6-SW! Imagine the cost saving...

I have a 4 and 5 hybrid and 5 iron

the hybrids give me the length of a 3 & 4 iron but I also use the 5 for shots like you stated, I have also found the hybrid easier to shape slightly. I rarely use the 5 iron and would actually rather have an extra hybrid instead!

I absolutely delight in playing my hybrids... They have re-ignited my game... Occassionally carry a 29degree one... Great out of damp/wet rough... Get the similiar distance out of them from the equivalent iron but with a great deal higher ball flight...

I carry 20 & 23 loft Ping G15 hybrids.
They are fantastic, I used to carry a high loft Callaway Diablo 30 degree, it was brilliant, I used it for awkward lies, or if the ball was buried in the rough, another shot it was great for was to punch the ball out low from under trees. (played off the back foot)
After reading this thread, I realise how much I miss it.
I am going to put it back in the bag.

just bought a 27 degree to replace my 5 iron as the 5 iron is a nightmare for me, i now have 20,23,27 6-sw also gap and lob, driver 3 wood and putter bag is now perfect for me.
