Hi all.
New to the forum so thought rather than looking and trying to learn would post for opinion.

I was fitted for sone new clubs around 2 years ago after losing faith in the clubs I was using

After lessons etc and after care all I could do was hit out of the toe regularly!

Does fitting really work or is it a case of shop professionals, without knocking you guys, selling something thats "in" at the moment.

Ive gone back to my regular loft, regular lie, dynamic gold's and am now if you like hitting it out of the screws.

Is fitting all its cracked up to be?

Cheers

Fitting does work yes

But they can only fit you for your swing on the day

The simplest way is to go back and have a loft and lie check with your current swing

Welcome along. Where do you play. In answer to the question, yes and no. I've been fitted (for my current I25's) and played off the shelf models too. I have played great rounds with both types. I think fitting has a place. Could it be that the swing changes still need time to work or has the change been so big that the fitting you had may not be right now?

Thanks for the responses. Some food for thought in both. I have gone back to my Titleist 762 DCI's over the Ping G20's. I really don't know if it was the wide sole or the offset in the Pings or both that was affecting my game as returning to the 762's my dispersion has lessened and accuracy greatly improved.

I play at Tenby GC in west Wales.

Cheers

It's also important to be clear what you are being fitted for - distance or dispertion/consistency. If you are having lessons, give the changes time to bed in before a fitting to ensure you are fitted for the new swing.

Well if you were fitted for clubs, then lessons changed your posture or swing path, it is perfectly possible that the fit is now out of whack with your swing. It would probably be useful to have a pro look at the swing, pref on a launch monitor, and figure out what is going on. During fitting, impact tape is sometimes used and a toe tendency can be a suggestion for lengthened clubs.

The biggest advantage of having a fitting is finding the correct spec shaft out of all the makes available. For me changing from one make to another was like night and day.

I've twice been CF'd for irons. The first time was on my old pre-lessons swing and came out with 2* shallow lie angle. Since my lessons I had another CF and came out with 2* upright lie angle (a 4* change based solely on lessons changing my swing path). Both fitting came out as needing 1/2 inch longer shafts and midsize grips.
I've since been having lessons with a new pro and am today going to a Mizuno demo day to see what else has changed before I go out to buy some new irons this autumn.
