Hi guys I'm new to the forum. A little bit about myself, been playing golf a couple of months and really caught the bug, should've taken it up years ago! Been practicing lots and having lessons and looking to join a club at the end of year I'm only young (just turned 15) but keen to learn and I'm pretty competitive so the goal is to become as good as I possibly can!

Welcome Ben. Good news that you've had lessons so you'll have a good foundation especially if you've practiced what you've been shown at the range. Get out there and play though as that is what its all about. You'll soon find that there are more bad days than good in golf but the good ones will ive with you much longer than the bads ones. Which club are you joining

Thanks for the welcome guys so far ive done a couple of 9 holes and looking to do my first 18 holes sometime soon, as ive already discovered, golf can be infuriating and my first 9 wasnt a fairytale start, but the second I shot 13 over which isnt exactly gonna set the world on fire but it gave me a bit of confidence as there were a couple of pars in there

something I learnt very quickly, in my first lesson with my pro one of the first things he said to me after he analysed my swing was that I was trying to hit it too hard, he got me practising what felt like a half swing a told me to slow it down, and suddenly the ball was travelling double the distance... and straight!

The nice thing about my local club is they have a great junior section, just 20 quid to join for greenfees discounts, free trolley hire and I believe (although I may be wrong) a slight discount on lessons

Little Hay Golf club, its a public course open to everyone despite this its a great little course and is always kept in good nick
