Playing Hever Castle tomorrow.

Anyone got any advice or tips for the course?

I've played it twice before, but struggling to remember all the holes - for some reason 2-8 are a bit of a blank for me! (I blame old age)

Cant find that much on line.

Cheers,

Assuming you are playing in the visiting comp I will be out ahead of you....
2. Line from tee is the bunker.
3. Fairway is now cut a lot more generously to the right - then left further up. Key is to get your ball below the hole with your approach shot.
4. Don't try and be clever - just play left of the trees from the tee and take it from there. Again hole has been 're shaped with a lot more space to the right for those who can hit a long ball from tee or need to head out that way to get round the trees on the left with their second.
5. Keep right from tee to most pins except short right - then tonk it over the bunker on the left for best approach.
6. Aim at the pin
7. Aim further left that you think from tee
8. Add 10 yrs

I played it back in June.

Decent course, the recent weather will have softened it up a bit, it can be very hard and fast during the summer months.

The back 9 is very nice, holes 11 to 14 in particular, the front 9 is decent too, but back 9 is nicer. It's quite a long course, not a good one to have a bad day with the driver on!

Sometimes I've found it a bit slow on a Friday with a few societies knocking about, overall though, it's a good course, good scenery, good food and drink in the bar.

Depending on what time of day you're playing, it can also be very good value.

what Duncan says.....................................

i've also found that on the 4th, approach shot is normally a club less than you'd normally hit and on the 7th, a club more.

I would have played your event if I hadn't been playing the Vets Laegue match Nick!

The real secret of Never is that it shouldn't be played as a long course, or an open one, despite being both. Scoring there is all about avoiding the bad miss - and you can miss many times as long as its not one of the bad ones. Simple example is the first - looks very straight down but if you know how far you hit it there can be different areas to aim at (or avoid).

Enjoy your day, and say Hi to Mark Chatham if you bump into him. He knows his way round despite being a Nizels member!

Thought the course was great. Real mix of holes. Was blowing quite hard at times and made it tricky especially for me being a 20 handicapper. I found everything was coming up short. Greens were in good condition. Pro shop small but good. Staff were attentive and polite. Great practise facilities.
