what is the earliest time you have ever teed off? i considering going at sunrise some morning when i know its going to be beautiful and clear and have the course to myself and the birds while everyone is sleeping! wee breakfast in the car while i wait for first light!

magic or mad ? :mmm:

its a magical time, had a few 4.35am tee offs in the height of summer, you feel at one with the course and it also feels like its your own personal course.

You have to watch with some clubs though as they say the course doesnt 'open' till a certain time

0645 Glorious weather but too early for me on a regular basis. Feels too much like work.

Don't know what time it was we teed off but I remember finishing, a 2 ball, at about 7:15am. I was half dead when I finished, and wouldn't do it again. I'm too soft.

Sunrise a few times back in UK before the course got busy on a Sunday with the hotel guests etc etc, magical time, made no difference as used to get up early for work anyway.

About 0610. Used to work nights and a few of the guys on my shift were in the company society. In the better months many a game commenced straight after the shift. Straight up the course and onto the first tee. Used to post a note to the pro/kitchen letting them know how many bacon rolls to be cracking on with. They had an early bird deal - £5 for the full 18, coffee and bacon.

I used to regularly tee off at 7am every Saturday before I joined the 0750 swindle. It was lovely being able to get round so fast and having nobody in front except when idiots used to think it was acceptable to tee off on a random hole.

During the summer school my wife is off (she's a teacher not at school lol) do often tee off at 0600. If I'm lucky I can beat the greens staff out, if not means I get stuck for a while at a few holes. It's great nice quite course, no one about just left to concentrate your shots.

I've teed off around 6.00am in Cornwall once or twice, but, I love my bed & sometimes I physically can't get out of it, it's sssssssssoooooooooooo comfy.

I know this is off topic, but, I've just clocked your location.
How are things down there now, was there in 2009 & absolutely fell in love with the place. Mrs Slime was born in Christchurch & we can't wait to go back out there again & do NZ properly.

Slime.

4.20 am with three other mad buggers for the Macmillan Longest Day. It was barely light enough but by the time we'd played the first the light was good. Very strange feeling and the body and bones weren't sure it was a great idea but a great chance to see the course untouched by anyone and just us and the wildlife

I hate mornings. I even hate 8.30am tee times. Golf time is afternoon followed by a beer or meal.

Interesting fact, I've never broken 80 playing before lunch.

oh, the answer?...I once played at 6.00am and it was great.

Nothing mad about it.

Played a few early tee offs years ago, between 615-630am, straight after nightshift, in summer months

Now though, after a nightshift, i just want to ZZZZZZ Sleep, couldnt be bothered to tee it up after work now, just drive straight home on Auto-Pilot........

My club have a midsummer madness charity competition with 22 teams of 4 teeing off at 4.30 am.

One of my regular playing partner's staff is a 3 handicap student member of Royal Troon he teed off at 5.30 am the other day then came in at 9am to 7pm shift...keen.
