Had back problems for years. Just over 2 years ago i had Partial disc removal due to a herniated disk. Played the south west KOK comp in feb and since then ive had twinges from my back and the old pains down my legs now and again. Last tuesday i coughed and bang shooting pains across lower back and the old problem is back again. Cant walk/stand properly due to the pains in my right leg and toes on my right foot have gone numb again. So off to the doc thursday for check up and hes got me an emergency scan for monday morning. Fairplay to him as it took 4 months to get the last scan. So will find out soon if its op number 2 coming up which means no golf until they get results and if it is bad news could be a 3 month lay up as he thinks its the same discs which means they may need to be fused. The docs put me on a 3 day course of Diazepam and pain killers to hopefully relax the muscles which has helped but to say im gutted is an understatement. Oh well will just have to see what the scan shows and go from there but im missing my golf already :(

Fingers crossed for you mate. Hopefully it's not as bad as you fear, but more than anything else, hopefully you get a good diagnosis and it's all sorted for the long term even if that means a lay off for a little bit.

Good luck!

Yup fingers crossed, positive side is the season has not fully started and courses are requiring time to recover. I would drop the carry bag the bending and picking it up are the killers for the back. Also when it's all rested get into a gentle stretching regime to keep all those muscles nice and loose, yoga is the way forward.
Anyway good luck !!

Had also back problems many years ago......i can agree that activites as yoga is good to prevent back problems.. I have for some years now, during wintertime, regulary take part in gymnastic,,,good for balance, heart, and mucles,, also goes on dynamic movements training,, its super... i used to go and yoga as well, but havent the time.............

so back problem is not an issue anymore and i feel good physically and mentality.. Thank god for friskis & svettis

Thanks for the replies. Its just me feeling sorry for myself and i know there are a lot of people far far worse off than me so i shouldnt winge. Definately going to do something this time though when the diagnosis is in. Pilates is something im looking at as my other half swears by it and has helped her back no end.
