Hi everyone

My other half is a mid 30's handicap player and wanting to get lower ( she prob will soon as she is getting quite good now) however she has some really old clubs made by voque or something like that and in the market for some new ones.

This is my question she likes the look of two callaway sets they are both older models which she does not mind and are not too expensive.

Razr x hl £250-280 form our local golf club pro

or

Xhot (not the new x2 ones) £350-400

could you advice what is better and if the razr x hl are worth buying at the price or save up and get teh xhot ones?

Thank you in advance

matt

Hi my thoughts would be to let the wife try both and then decide,if the wife prefers the x hot start saving,or take out of the housekeeping.lol

my missus chose her own clubs - she played for years with an old second hand set - when she wanted new clubs a couple of years ago she went to see our local pro and he let her have a go with a couple of demo irons from the ones she liked the look of.

Use the same criteria for buying clubs for yourself.
Try both sets and get the ones she feels better with.

If you were buying clubs for yourself, which ones would you buy?

cheers for all the replies, common sense really but was hoping soem body would say the razr x hl are superb and not worth buying the xhot ones ;)

Show her the old Taylormade R11 white headed clubs, that way looking at something white will remind her of the white goods in the kitchen and should instil confidence when hit them

But sensibly, go with what she feels comfortable with.

If I were you, I would let her buy something that won't reduce your own spending power when it's time to buy a new set of sticks for yourself. "You know it makes sense, Rodders".

You never said what clubs you have. Cant let your bird have better clubs than yours. If you do you might as well buy her a callaway x hot strap on and get it over with.

I have the razr hl x. Two majors plus' for me, is that they look very nice in hand. And secondly they are very forgiving clubs (allegedly). Even the pro who I go and see, said he really liked them. On the down side, because there an older model AG wouldn't c/f, themes the breaks I suppose.
One thing to note, not sure how to explain this, but the lofts are lower than most other clubs ie my pw is 44 and sw 54 other models are normally 2° higher

Thank you this is what I was looking for ( not saying the comments previously we're not appreciated ), the boss is going to try some on Saturday after her medal match so will see what she goes with!

One thing I have noticed the lack of club choice for women is pretty poor, I guess the lower handicap women use men irons but custom made to their own abilities :)

My Mrs plays JPX825 irons fitted with Lite (A) flex Exsar IS shafts. She does have a pretty strong swing for a woman though but I hear the Exsar L flex is a very decent shaft for the slower swing.
The 825 heads look good and seem to perform really well. Although, seeing as she plays off 3, every game seems to be a good performance...

The biggest club you can find. If you hit her just right you can get out, have a round with the lads, a couple of beers after and be home before she wakes up when you tell her she banged her head on the cupboard door.
