Help Needed... West Kilbride or Irvine GC

Hi looking for a bit of help from any of the forum members in the west 12 off us are looking to head to the west coast and play golf on Monday and looking for a bit of advice as to which course is the best between West Kilbride & Irvine. I have never played them so not sure which is the best test of golf some of the guys have said that Irvine is a better test of golf as it's tighter and that West Kilbride is wide open and a bit short. Any advice as to which one would be better to play.

If you mean Irvine Bogside then yes that's a better (tighter and Open qualifier) course.

West Kilbride is fine, much wider fairways so maybe better for more enjoyment but it depends on the handicap ranges and what you all are after.

Second for Irvine, played rubbish on it but it was a great course

So long as you don't spray your drives too much I would say that off 5 handicap Bogside is a good challenge.
West Kilbride may be more enjoyable if your playing partners are not such low handicappers.

Both very good courses.

Irvine bogside is a great course.
I like the back 9 of west kilbride, fronts pretty boring tbh.

why not check out largs golf club? Not far from west kilbride. Great course and probably has the best greens in the area

Forget both of them and go for Largs. Currently in immense condition and a great test of golf.

Thank you Andy I might give Largs a try the next time as I have heard its a good course but we have all decided to avoid West Kilbride after most folk on here have said Irvine is the better course so here we come Irvine Bogside.
