I am mid 60's playing off 14 H/C. Not much distance from the tee, 200 yards maximum, pretty good round the green and with hybrids. Poor shoulder turn, bit of agave and coming over the top.

Currently I have Ping G20 with hybrids 4.5,6,7 and graphite for the remainder of irons. Driver is last year's Taylor made and woods are G20 17 degree.

Time for a change and wonder what to buy for forgiveness as accuracy is more important than distance. I am happy taking an extra 2 clubs for my 2nd shot. Budget is not really an issue provided they are proprietary brands.

Ant thoughts would be appreciated

Those are good clubs and pretty forgiving. Not sure whether changing them will make much of a difference. Did you have them fitted? If not, then having a new set fitted properly will make a big difference in terms of distance and forgiveness.

I started using the Callaway X2 Hot irons about a year ago and they are so easy to hit and they go a monster distance. I'm 62 so not much younger and found that where I would need a 7 iron for 155 yards I can now go 167 with a 7 iron! My 5 iron roll out is 203, I haven't changed my swing it's just that they really go a long way!

I'm off to Callaway this morning for a custom fit on their new XR irons and will no doubt post a comparison and write up on the day when I get back

If I was hitting my 5i 200+ I wouldn't be changing!

Back the The OP, pretty forgiving set already....

The clubs you have are pretty forgiving. If you want to stick with hybrids for the 4,5,5 & 7 it's going to be difficult to find a full, matching set.
Having said that, the Cobra Fly-Z XL Combo set get good reviews and are pretty forgiving by all accounts.

4, 5 & 6 are hybrids, but it looks like you can get a 7h as well.

Cobra Bafflers, I have a set on ebay at the moment. Can be had quite cheaply new also.

Literally the easiest thing i've ever hit, if you don't mind the looks they really inspire confidence.

It doesnt count if its on the opposite fairway :D

Why not try the Benross Gold range, they will be launching the new range soon, but get to a range and try them and others on a LM.

I currnetly play Benross Hot Speed 2 and hit my 7 iron 140 yds, I am 58...........still a youngster!

I'd be interested to hear how they compare. Rick Shiels reviewed them and he was almost lost for words. 200yd 7 iron!

If all clubs are up for possible replacement I'd suggest a much more lofted driver. Maybe a 14° or 16° SLDR Mini if the smaller head isn't scary.

Cleveland CG16's are amazing !! I've dropped two shots last season and am confident of doing the same again this.

Nike Covert 2.0's are awesome. Rick Shiels tested them on his Youtube channel, and said that if he was starting on tour he'd pick the Coverts for their forgiveness. I've had mine for a couple of months now, and absolutely love them.

Have you looked at a different shaft more suitable for seniors (without trying to be disparaging)

That is a great point Homer and no offence taken. My swing speed is slow and before I had the shaft 'worse' than regular but last time I had regular. At the last fitting it was not the normal guy but his assistant.

Worth looking at and thanks for all your help
