help me suss out this bite mark on my leg

as it takes weeks and months to get a docters appoitmant i will seek help on here. a few weeks ago i dared show my legs at the golf it was really warm at least 13 degrees lol. but by a process of elimination i reckon thats when i was bitten on my leg just above the sock. it is about 1.5cm big and round. it is red around the edge and a blister type in the middle.
i havent been abroad on holiday so no danger of me croaking it but its annoying me as its itchy. i have been putting some voodoo cream my mother gave me which helps keep it down.

is it a bite? will i die from it? will i have to cut my leg off?

Its a horsefly bite, they can takes weeks to heal properly.
I'm currently nursing one on my elbow, that i got monday evening whilst playing. Elbow was very swollen and sore, and as for the ITCH !!!

It's either a horse fly or a Glentrool Midge.

if you nip down the chemist, or find someone with hay fever and pinch a couple of anti histamine tablets, these will help

Horse flies are almost as bad and useless as wasps in my book

The advantage with horse fly bites is that I guess their proboscis must be relatively quite large , so you can often squeeze the yellow poisen out.
Actually salon cream is very good for these

I get bitten a bit in the garden, hardly ever on the golf course.
Holland and Barratt Aloe Vera Gel [99.9%] seems to work very well for me, cheap as chips too.

found some cream hydro something it seems to be doing the job. the bite looks weird with a near perfect circle and stuff in the middle. its been years since a beastie has bitten me
