..... Started talking to my ball after I've hit it!!

I caught myself doing it today and have no idea how long I've been doing it!!

Am I alone and do I need help ;)

Depends - if you are expecting to strike up a conversation, then prepare to be disappointed and possibly escorted away from the course.

If only issuing instructions or exhortations still prepare to be disappointed, but you are in good company - many pros on the tour seem to do it and, notably, always address the ball in English - including Jiminez.

There's a reason for pro's talking to the ball. The subconscious controls a lot more of your shot than you think. If you are trying to draw the ball then telling yourself that at address will help more than not saying anything.

I once went on a course from work where we were told to draw a cross on a piece of paper and then hold a paperclip on a piece of string over the centre of the cross. We were then told to make the paper clip move in a circle without moving your fingers but just by thinking about it. It worked as the subconscious was making the involuntary movements in your fingers without you realising. The mind is a powerful thing!

"TURN" "SIT DOWN" and "STAY THERE" would be my most common instructions whispered, spoken or shouted depending on how annoyed I'm getting!

Another talker here. I've bought a set of deaf Z stars who are also scared of the dark and refuse to go into holes
Mine dont like heights either, as soon as they are in the air they look down at the fairway, see it looks quite hard and zoom sideways to the nice soft rough or water and hide so I cant hit them again.

Those are three of my mains ones aswell as "GET UP" and if its a real shocker "HIT A HOUSE!"

I even found myself the other day saying "BE THE RIGHT CLUB..." followed by, in my best southern drawl

"...TODAY!!"

a la Hal Sutton... Yes it was just a friendly match with a fiver on it and I definitely did some cringing afterwards...

I always have a little chat to mine before I clobber it - played an approach on a par 5 from 160 into the wind at the weekend, 3rd shot and I knew I could get it close as the flag was in a good position.

"Come on Whee, keep that head down big lad, slap it - Ball, do your thing for me, I know you're going to draw round just nicely, just give me a GIR, pleeeeaaaasee" - Cue the backswing and strike, and the ball doing exactly as I told her to.

Always gotta remember to say thanks to it afterwards. If they sense your unappreciative, you'll miss the fricken birdie putt!!!!!!!

Anyone click their fingers at the ball to get it to slow down like Cabrera was doing at the Masters?

Just occasionally mine will listen but most of the time it doesn't know left from right or fade from draw...
