I have just updated a slideshow program that I use, and when I want to do animations etc it gives me a message that I need to

Hardware acceleration of the video card

Direct x9 or higher

Update or reinstall drivers of the video card

I have a hammer and screwdriver ready, can anyone give some easy to follow advice please!

And I really do mean easy!

Thanks

Chris

When you've found that... you can probably double click it and I think you get an option to update driver, click that and click let windows search or similar... it's never said anything other than working properly or driver up to date for me but its worth a go...

•Click on Start - Settings - Control Panel
•Double click on System
•Click on the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties page
•Click on Device Manager

edit - good ole google!

so you follow the above and you can't see it? are you the administrator on the pc?

This is how google advises you get there

1.
Click on Start and then Control Panel.

2.
Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.

Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simple double-click on the System icon and proceed to Step 4.

3.
In the Performance and Maintenance window, click on the System icon near the bottom of the window.

4.
In the System Properties window, click on the Hardware tab.

5.
With the Hardware tab selected, click on the Device Manager button.

6.
You can now use Device Manager to update device drivers, view the system resources a particular hardware device is using, etc.

Ha ... found device manager, just need to work outwhich one is the video card

Chris

something like display should be the boy...

Found the graphics card and did an update. Have to restart computer ... keep fingers crossed ... will let you know, if I never appear again it blew up

Cheers mate

Chris

yeah, foot through... I'd copy what the device manager says into google and check for the latest version of driver. Like has been mentioned it may not be up to it but for an XP machine I'd be surprised it couldn't handle it, it may just be low on memory so throws a double 6
