Not my bank account of course lol but my club shop account

Our pro shop is closing at the end of the month and have about 350/400 in there to use before the doors close. Not much in the shop itself I want or need. Tho the owner did say if i am quick enough he will let me order something in.

Not sue what to buy was saving the money up for some new irons maybe next season. So of course at this stage I dont have enough for the irons so should I add the money to it or get something else?

any ideas ????

Dont need foot wear and happy enough with my GPS. Rest of stuff I could change I guess but at the same time am happy with what I have and now i am worried i am rushed into spending it lol

Go for the irons. Yes you might have to add some money....but at least you won't be shelling out the full whack

Will the club offset the vouchers against next years subs?

Am still awaiting my letter confirming everything but been told it can't. When I first heard it was closing that was the first thing that came to mine, get the fees paid.

I know of one guy that has over a grand not sure what the hell he's going to do. As the same man has been chatting about giving up golf due to his age (79).

I was kind of hoping the club would have stepped in to work out something with it's members.

You might end up having to buy stuff you don't want - if you do, buy stuff that you can sell easily..
Not the best outcome but if you can turn that 350/400 quid into 300 cash it's not the end of the world...
I'd also get in quick before the good stuff goes.

The club should, surely it has a duty of care. Personally I'd be looking for some official legal advise. He chose to shut the shop so if anyone is in credit he should be offering refunds.

Let's work on most retailers making 25-30%, even if he offered credit less potential profit, IE £300 credit or £200 cash...

Not sure on the full legal standing but my guess is this wasn't an overnight decision

Similar thing happened at our club. It's how I got my Garmin watch, cos my dad still had a 200 € voucher for the shop when it closed down, so he converted it into an ad hoc birthday present for me (which was, of course, much appreciated). It wasn't an account, though, but a gift voucher he had gotten for Christmas.

If you are looking to buy something you can then sell on ebay, I'd say a good current laser rangefinder. You will lose some money reselling it, but not overly much, I'd reckon, because online prices are relatively solid on those things and it is less hassle to sell and send around than balls or anything like that.

Its a debt you have a right to it as a voucher is an IOU.

Is it run as a private proprietorship or limited company?

If he owns the company in person he can't just shut up shop and not clear his liabilities as the business debts are his personal debts. However if he runs it as a limited company he can wind it up and people such as yourself who are creditors can take a hike.

He has a couple of GPS watches wt5 and bb5 or whatever they are seems like they are retailing around 159 so could get them and sell on eBay for maybe like 130. That would leave me around 100 quid still to blow. Priced the pro v's he's looking 45 a dozen lol
