hello folks

yeah sorry about the lack of detail in my first post!!
well im 18 and am from south wales. just taken golf back up again after a 2 year period of not touching a club. im currently off 20 however the way im playing tee to green i should be down to 14/15 in the next few weeks ( well if i can get my putting to any sort of standard, i played well tee to green today however due to 6, 3 puts :D i ended up playing to 18 ).
 
What club you at mate? I might be back down in the Valleys soon and up for a game.

That sounds good, but first id need to sort my putting out as its frustrating the heck out of me :). on the putting green im ace but as soon as i get on the course i just cease to function!! but then again ive only been back playing for 2.5 weeks.

well im actually from south west wales, but it was easier to just say west wales! haha. i play at Glynhir at the moment
 
Can I suggest a putting lesson. I had one a few weeks ago and it was a revelation in terms of how closed I was addressing the ball and how far I was actually standing away when I thought my eyeline was directly over the ball. My pro also worked on the grip and some mechanics and I'm starting to putt with confidence again
 
Hiya fella !!

I've been playing since last August, and decided to join a club this March. If you eve r fancy popping along the M4, I play at Llantrisant.

Maybe we'll have a Welsh forum members meet this summer, not sure on what would be an ideal location. I'm presuming somewhere a with a bit of class, and located conveniently for all.

Glynhir, is that down Swansea way ?

What part of the Valleys are you from Hywel ? What on earth persuaded you to leave God's country in the first place ? Please don't say a it was for a woman !! :p


When are you down this way next ? Maybe we can use that date for a Wales GM Forum Meet ?

Well, whilst we're making introductions, this seems like as good a time as any to introduce myself as well.

I'm 31 and play at The Manor House, Castle Combe in Wiltshire. I took the game up last year after getting one too many injuries playing football. Hasn't taken me long to get addicted to this infuriating game!

Looking forward to getting to know you all......
 
haha, but golf is far more enjoyable so you made the correct choice. im not going to university next year and will hopefully find a job (fingers crossed) so ive got all summer to spend on the course ;)and to get down to a respectable handicap
 
Welcome guys. Sorry to hear about your putting woes. Pulls up a chair.
Is your putting bad because of bad direction, bad distance control or both?
 
umm i suffer from really poor distance control,i leave alot short and some go alot too far. This has led to a serious lack of confidence on the grees which seems to be compounding the problems.
Yesterday for example i reached every par 4 in 2 shots , every par 5 in 3 and i still made bad scores because i ended up 3 putting 6 of the greens!!. The most interesting thing however is that as soon as i get on the practice green i sink them from everywhere, which suggests that its all psycological
