anyone know if these will work on an electric trolley? (10 in dia wheels)

after the slipping and sliding on the clay at Crowboro' I think I need improved traction for the winter. the 'treaded' wheels on offer at Powerbug look about as useful as a very unuseful thing.

as an alternative I have thought of using some large size tywraps spaced round the wheel but these would be quite shallow.

Hi,
I don't own a electric trolley but I have read that the plastic cable ties do the trick I believe and hold them fast.

As per: -

The Powerbug traction wheels look similar to the Motocaddy winter wheels. These do actually improve traction - definately far better than standard slicks

I can see the benefit of these things but Im a little perplexed, in that, If its bad enough conditions to warrent this extra traction, surely its at a time when most clubs that are open, ban trolly's anyway other than those with special dispensation, is it mainly aimed at those people or is at just an aid for mainly electric trolly on a hilly damp course? i ask because I havent seen any of these yet.

hedgehogs are aimed at pull/push trolleys; the fitting method is normally plastic clips, hence the query whether they'll work with electric.

besides giving the trolley extra traction I believe these are meant to be better for the course than slicks in all conditions (greenkeeper?)

I have heard that hedgehogs for electric trolleys are now available but I have not seen them yet. There will be problems for GoKart because the front wheel has a mudguard thing that is a bit close to the wheel although I believe there is a new front wheel assembly available.

You only put them on the back wheels with the Gokart not the front, it would be the same with all trolleys in that case.

Now I can understand that idea and see it as a benefit, I just mis read the reason for them, thanks.

In the limited time that I've had my GoKart, though it's been wet out everytime, the 'slicks' lack traction, and spin on the surface, which must damage the grass etc.

I would imagine that the hedgehog type things reduce the 'skidding' effect on the grass and therefore actually create less damage. Even if they do look a bit silly.

Now, about this idea of catapiller tracks on an electric golf trolley!!

as has been mentioned in another thread (sorry can't remember who), it seems that the early electrics had wider wheels and have since reverted to wheels that would not be out of place on a child's indoor toy.

sensible all-weather solution seems to me to be wider low-pressure tyres.

Check out their web site - you can get new wheels with grips and front mud guard for free. Quality service.
