Hearts in Admistration

Yup, its definitely not the easy way out of debt but in this case probably the wisest... even with the associated hardships still to come

It's been a crazy few years all right
(it shouldn't be this tough to follow your favourite team)

The 1st charge over Tyncastle that the bank in liquidation has is a biggie. Their days on Gorgie Rd could be numbered even if they emerge from Admin.

And now what happensfor next season? - relegation to Div1; starting SPL with massive points defecit; or the sevco way. Sad for Hearts. Outside of St Johnstone, Hearts are the probably the team I would want to do well - as they are only team with a real chance of challenging the Weegie biggies - and that it seems was the unrealistic (in the short term) ambition of their Baltic owners that has been their downfall.

Cheats never prosper.

Liquidation to follow soon, once KPMG realise there actually nothing to administer.

As a proud hobo, peg seller, 1902,5-1 Leith junkie who fought Mercer in 1990 can I just say I'm delighted that the day has finally come, a day they've been warned about since Romanov waltzed into gorgonia but chose to ignore and adopt the 'big team' mentality, to endorse vast overspending and chant his name, to embrace his cheats charter and diversionary tactics. There are many, many merricks who climbed aboard the band wagon who knew nowt about football prior to his arrival, and they continue to know nowt about football today.Tear down the piggery and build a supermarket, I promise I'll shop there every week.

And for those who say its terrible for Scottish football ( like Archie McPherson last night) no it's not, just like Sevco wasn't this year...every club (outwith Celtc) saw attendances rise last year, tell Inverness,Ross county and St. Johnstone last year was Armageddon.Scottish football will be fine without Hearts and Edinburgh even more so.

One city, one team, they'll always wear green.

Adi2, as a Jambo I don't disagree with any of your comments. Hibs and Aberdeen have been prudently run over the last decade and their fans have generally complained about the lack of investment, bet those fans are not complaining now.
I don't disagree with One City teams, Dundee is a good example of crazy economics.
I would like to see the likes of Falkirk, Livingston and Kilmarnock to rise up with a decent support. Kilmarnock town seem to be made up of Rangers and Celtic supporters. The town should claim a bit of pride and teach the youngsters to support their local teams. There is some wonderful kids coaching going on at the moment in Ayrshire but the kids do not seem to want to support their local teams.

Was brilliant that Saints cam ethird this year - but we get home crowds of 3000 - most of Perth seem either not to care - or if they have any vague other allegiance it's to one of the weegie mobs. Pity but true. We have to be REALLY creative about getting folk through the gates. It can be done but it will 'cost' - would we rather have someone through the door for £10 or not bothering at £20. A question Steve Brown has seriously to consider.

SPL is booming!!!!! Erm no its not.

Dundee and Ross county attendences were always going to go up as they were previously 1st division teams and had a derby to look forward to in the SPL. Out of the ten teams who were in the SPL in 2011-12 (with Rangers) only 3 posted an increase in attendances, Aberdeen Caley and Hibs. Hibs played a lot of good football early on and the fans who had stopped watching previous dross came back. Caley had a good derby to look forward to and Aberdeen gave out free season tickets for kids and done used groupon type deals for the first time. Free kids season tickets is a great idea to get fans for the future but it would be interesting to see the revenue from attenndances in the last two seasons.

Dundee UTD attendance was the same but i thought that it would go up as they sold out 2 derby games this season when they were sell outs previously against Rangers.

All that being said Hearts scenario would have happened with or without Rangers, its been on the cards for a long time.

This could be a summer of more fighting as i suspect Dundee will be looking at this closely. Less than a month after the SPL saying no insolvancy act had happened when UBIG (hearts owners) had applied for admin, Hearts have since failed to pay players and the full amount of a VAT bill to HMRC. If the SPL had deemed Hearts guilty of an insolvancy act when UBIG collapsed they would now have been relegated.

I wonder if the SPL clubs and Hibs in particular share your confidence that everything will be fine. Hearts do have quite a good travelling support and i don't think Hibs would like to loose their biggest games of the season after last years posted losses.

I guess the fact that you can take Sevco out of the picture and attendences DON'T collapse is a sign that we haven't been visited by Armageddon.

That said my team St Johnstone just have to find a way of getting attendences up. 3,000 for home games is on the cusp of collapse, as potential new supporters will be put off by a dead atmosphere and justnot bother going along (try watching SPL football on a misereable wet winter's day in Perth with the ground a third full). If the football isn't fantastic (which it isn't compared with what can be watched of the EPL and Championship) then only a decent atmosphere will work. And that will take vision and guts - and adopting a business model at odds with what has been used before.

Yes the timing was definitely in Hearts favour.

Bit of a battle to stay in the SPL next season. This could be a big plus as far as the fans are concerned, everyone loves a battling underdog.
They have some good youngsters and the makings of a decent team, if they can hold onto them.

Tynecastle has one of the best grounds for atmosphere.
I have watched Benfica [with Eusabio] and AC Milan there on European nights.
There is a good fan base there, 60,000 watched then play Barca at Murrayfield. Mind you I think there were a few Hibees there cheering on Barca.

The entire squad is up for sale, so no, they don't have the makings of anything at the moment.

Superb.

First the unwashed and next their diet cousins.

Less Union Jack waving next season hopefully.

Best change our song....Bring on the Hibs the Hibs the Hibs the Hibs, bring on the Spaniards by the score....:whoo:

About the same as Hibs?I wasn't there as I don't do pre-season friendlies, but the point is, people went to see Barca, not Hearts and not Hibs.Historically, since WWII, Hibs are the better supported club in Edinburgh.Maybe not reflected over the last 5 years or so, but the figures back it up.ER has the record Edinburgh crowd and the biggest average crowd over a season.AND we only count people who come thru the gates, not the number of ticket we sold/gave away.

So we compete in the support stakes, even against financial doping that been going on since Mercer.

one city, one team

Because of course what everyone wants is the manky mob in their green and grey hoops waving the flag of a foreign country.

Well if the Jambos did this they were only following the example set by their weegie bro's - and who continued to have 'full houses' at Ibroke - even when swathes of empty seats were clear for all to see :)
