Hello forum!

After a reasonable round over the weekend, I decided to go and look in a local golf shop on my way home.

Whilst there I ended up having a fitting session. Brought my irons in to have a look on the monitor and have been told that I should be playing 0.5 inch longer clubs. Now I cannot get it out of my head and it is annoying me.

So what I thought I would ask is how much difference is that going to actually make?

And if the answer to the above question is yes, what is the best way to lengthen and most cost effective?

Extending is easy
Grip off, glue in shaft extension, regrip...
I've always been a bit sceptical about clubs 1\4 or 1\2 inch longer making a difference to us amateurs...
Do you stand,to within half an inch, at the same height every time you address the ball..?
Half an inch ain't a lot....

Barely worth worrying about I'd say. Did the check the lie angle?

They did, 2.25 inches as green dot suggests, I am 6 ft 6 and wrist to floor puts me into that bracket, but with 1 inch longer rather than half inch longer.

We spoke about a lot of stuff around shafts, I always switch off because it feels like a sales pitch and I just like hitting the things. But after he has put it in my head I was concerned.

Hard to say. Did you try any extended clubs or more upright ones to compare with what you had. I think you'd need to see some data on a monitor to get a ball park figure first on whether its making any difference and then decide from there

How much of the grip of the club sticks beyond your left hand at address when you get in your posture? Presuming that your right handed.😀
