Off to Hayling in a minute. Just checked the forecast and 31/32 mph wind with 45-47 mph gusts. Just a mild breeze for some of us!! Temperature 15 but feels like 9!

We went down there earlier for a stroll along the beach.

The windsurfers were out in force and definitely a fun day for them but not sure about for golfers. Ball must have been blown around on the greens I'm guessing? It was hard work walking into it at points:D

no shorts today - but I could have! Wow - the forests of wind speed were, I reckon, significantly underestimated. I have never played in that strong a wind - unbelievably hard to control and many pins simply impossible unless you get lucky and catch the 40 yard sideways finish just right! To give you some idea, Gordon flushed a 5 iron into the 145 yard -par 3 (12th??) and nearly made the green - went about 110 yards - my 4 iron was similar - hence, we reckon about a 6 club wind. There was one youngster behind us and we saw another 4 ball later on - a match that was due to go out after us was cancelled! A fantastic course with great fairways and bone dry! Links golf is the future for winter golf. From 7 onwards, the course was really good and some holes are right up there with the greats. All told, a great day - even if it was bloody hard work mentally and physically!

Glad you enjoyed it Paul, toughest conditions I've played in for a LONG time! But great fun, just glad it was a mates knock and not a competition  Colin and Andy said in the car home how much they enjoyed it too, looking forward to our next get-together
