I have been lucky that I dont have an allergy to pollen or suffer from hayfever. However in the past few weeks, after a round of golf, my eyes seem to go all red. I believe the late spring is affecting pollen cycles and leading to more pollen around. Or it might just be in my head to make a causal relationship between the two.

Anyone struggling for the first time this year?

I have suffered badly with it all my life, however for the past 2 or 3 years I've gradually been getting better. In fact I have not needed to take any drugs this year until last weekend. In the past there would be no chance of me going for a walk in the country for 4 hours during May/June.

With the spring being as crap as it was I was absolutely fine until about 3/4 weeks ago and now I'm suffering big time. Funnily enough though I don't seem to be all that bad when I'm out on the course so it must be something to do with the pollen in Tiptree, we have the Jam factory obviously so suspect it's something to do with that as I never suffered with hayfever until I moved here.

Just played and it killed me for 12 holes, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes and feeling crap, did settle around 6:30 ish though. Does my head in!!!

It was also bad after cutting the grass yesterday

I never use to suffer but the last couple of years I've noticed I was getting sore eyes and a runny nose and so ended up taking piriton. I wonder if its something I have just picked up as I hurtle to grumpy old man status

I get mild "attacks" when the Pollen Count is very high - been like that a fair bit recently so I'm on the tablets at the moment.
Of the 3 of us The Boy gets it worst.......

It is quite common for it to develop out of the blue. I have an unexplained allergy that surfaces in Spring/Summer for the last 3 years after never having suffered before. It can be terrible at times so I have been prescribed some nose spray and antihistamines from the doc which work well when I remember to take them!

I suffer really bad all years at the start of the pollen season, then it starts to die off after a while.

This year has been really bad though, because the 3 seperate mini seasons you get all come at once due to the cold spring.

Never suffered with hay fever at all until about 3 years ago when i turned 51,couldn`t believe i started getting it at such an old age
Even taking the tablets i am still suffering, runny/itchy eyes, seems slightly better when i have my contact lenses in but can`t wait for it to settle down.

As soon as the pollen count gets above virtually zero i'm affected. Eyes have been stinging since the first rays of sunshine and the sinus are now as much use as they would be if I didn't have them.

I have tried all the usual remedies from chemist but found the only effective relief for me is the steroid jab in your backside and then when playing golf I still have to wear sunglasses and thats not because i want to look cool its so my eyes don't stream more than Niagra.

I get it infrequently, but when I do it really affects my eyes. Usually I get it late summer but this year I got a bit in April.

the tablets do nothing but I find the eye drops/nasal spay combo is pretty good

I suffer really badly, and have since I was at school. A few years ago after a 36 hole comp I actually ended up in hospital because my sinuses became so swollen a gp who plays at the club was worried I was having the same sort of symptoms that people do with bee stings.

I've suffered with it all my life, and react to all the pollens so struggle form April until October! Cetirizine keeps it mostly under control, but these past few days especially it has been very bad indeed.

I never had any of these things. Seems to have spiralled out of control in the last month. 2 weeks ago, it got worse and by the 11th hole I was 'doing a Homer'. :whoo:.. People thought I was crying, but in reality it was just pollen (apologies to Homer)

Do anyone of these Pritone, nasal spray etc make one drowsy?
