Hawkstone park, Shrewsbury

Off there next weekend for 2 days of golf, anybody been? What shall I expect?

Which course are you playing? Championship? Hawkstone? Both?

I've played both courses for the last 3 years running with an over night stay.

The courses are both excellent and provide a good test of golf. Greens are usually excellent all year round with the courses very well maintained. Rough is not to penal bit out the ball in the wrong places and you'll struggle to score.

There is a lot more water on the championship course and the course is a little flatter. The Hawkstone course is much more picturesque and is my preferred of the two. Some if the holes on there are spexracular. The 9th is a prime example.

The clubhouse is excellent. The food and drink is very good, if a little pricey. Practice facilities are very good with a long driving range, short game green and practice putting greens.

You'll have an excellent time

Been a number of times, and quite happy to go back. Courses excellent, as is the grub. If the hotel is empty the atmosphere can be a little flat.

Two very good courses, the championship is more of an American style course, the other more picturesque parkland. As stated before there are some wonderful views.
The clubhouse is nice, but we were very disappointed about the hotel and restaurant.
Hope you enjoy it.
