Since playing as a kid and right up till last week I've tried to hit the ball as far as I could with every club (except putter).

Age and playing less is catching up but I still keep up with most at my h/cap level.

However, played with a 5 yesterday that was 40 yds past my 'pretty decent' drives.
He was 7 iron to my 5 iron and still higher and longer. PW to my 8 iron etc you get the idea.

2 par 5's I hit excellent drive and excellent 4 wood 20 yds short, he hits drive and 5 iron that carries to the pin:clap:

Different class and a wake up call to play with the seniors now...............

Roll on death............

All the more reason to practice the sort game - and putting - now!

What weight Driver shaft are you using?

or just get a few games with oddsocks here (but avoid swinger and a couple of the others!) ....

more seriously, it's when they start adding 'for a senior' to the observation that you hit a long ball that you know you are on that slippery slope; but the way to beat it is to fundamentally re-tune what constitutes success when playing (if you crack that please let me know how )

Totally agree with that, putting sorted I think, chipping and pitching is appalling, these 2 par 5's I nearly reached in 2 ended up bogies with 2 fat chips a thinned chip and rolling in a 10 foot putt:rolleyes::rofl:

Driver shaft is Diamana blue In S, not sure of weight but I didn't miss a fairway with it yesterday.

I'm not a big hitter and just accept I need more club than others. Golf, like life, is easier and more enjoyable when you know your limitations.

Come on now!
I do not know how old you are but their are worse things than being a "senior".
Get the short game sorted and you will soon notice the difference.
I am middle 70's and now get a shot a hole,it is all about using them that counts.
Your "roll on death " comment took me back to my army days,us squaddies use to say "roll on death, demob is to far away"

Well, depending on your swing, a lighter shaft might help. Dispersion is then the problem. Blues come in 63, 73 and 83. 83 is for the Prop Forward type of guy, 73 is a really good Fairway and 63 a great Driver one.

Find the right super-lightweight shaft? Again, depends on your swing and if you've always hit it as hard as poss, they might not suit your transition. Lots of Senior Tour guys are using super-lites for the same reason.

If you don't miss fairways currently, then a slightly poorer dispersion wouldn't be such a bad thing. Semi works just as well as fairway normally, so a couple a round in there wouldn't be bad - certainly wasn't for me yesterday. I prefer hitting a 7i from the semi than a 5i from the middle of the fairway! It's not knowing where it will go that's a killer!

Im only 37 and having to accept a loss off distance from the tee, buggering up my shoulder 3 years ago means if I play a couple of days In a row then it starts hurting when hitting the big dog when swinging as I want to. Irons are thill as long as ever though, but then that is a more controlled type of swing
