Looking back on the year, do you consider you have had your moneys worth from your club subs?

During the spring and summer I played lots and got plenty of use from my course. Played quite a few comps, Sunday afternoon knocks and lots of apres work trips up for a few holes too. Also played during the colder months, generally Sunday morning/afternoon rounds.

So yeah, I think I certainly got my moneys worth this year. :D

Joined a new club on a temporary membership of £135 for 3mths (5 day), managed to get about 35 games in that time. Have since joined full time and the weather has scuppered most playing time but definitely got more than my moneys worth (nice to have my knee hold up and be on the right side of value for once!!!). Will up it to 7 day membership in the spring so tht I can play in the comps

Rounds Played
Circa ...30 Medals - Saturdays
Circa ...20 S/Ford - Winter League - Saturdays
Circa ...12 KO Rounds in Comps - Summer evenings
Circa ...30 Bounce Games Only - Friday evening ready for Saturdays Comp.

Total... 90/100 pa Excellent value for money!

Clubhouse..Great membership( Not every one's cup of tea - tend to be told 'You were playing s*it today!' if you were but full of praise if you return a good card. If one is looking for 'Hard luck old boy' as you shank it off the tee, this is the wrong company!

Food OK - Bar staff/prices Very Good

Money's Worth?? And How!

Much down on last year and the year before where I had time off in the summer and could play more often. Been a manic year workwise trying to keep in employment so days off midweek have been limited.

Only managed 71 full rounds so far this year (122 from memory last) but with the practice facilities, odd nine holes etc then definitely. I'm lucky in that HID has no problem whenever I play so most weekends (before my mum was ill) was a round on Saturday and Sunday and then two or three times a week in summer.

Yes definatley twice a week most weeks and sometimes 3 if i can somehow keep HID happy (which isn't very often when it comes to me golfing) :)

Definitely. Must have played 100 or so times this year. Just about £4 a round. Pretty good value, I'd say. It's like any such membership, if you use it, it's good value, if you don't it's expensive.

Certanly feel that I have had reasonable value for money but feel that I could have got more out of it, no evening rounds during the week for example due to a huge commute for much of it.

On a different note, I know that the traditional season runs from April but it does not seem ideal that the bill for the subs comes at a time when the course can be closed and membership, mentally at least, appears worse value for money.

Honestly. No not really. I joined late in the year but still had to pay a full years fee's (Missed 3 months of the season). First couple of months was playing by myself as I didn't know anyone at the club so only played 4 times a month. The last three months I've got a regular round but thats been hampered by bad weather and working saturdays. I have only been on the putting green the last 4 weeks. At £104 a month its a hard pill to swallow, but next year should be a good laugh. Cant wait :D

Mmm, let me see I'm a member of 2 clubs play one most Saturdays, plus get to play, Royal Dornoch, Struie x3 each, Brora x3, Golspie x3, Fortrose x3, Muir of Ord x3, Strathpeffer x3, Invergrdon and alness for £10. Plus the other course is just around the corner, so go up there 2 or 3 evenings a week when its light enough. so yes. :p

Yep, in comparison to the three previous seasons. Managed over 500 holes which relates to about 23 full rounds and several 'few holes' during the week in the summer.
Hopefully planning even more next year

Well each of my 87 rounds has cost me £5.79 or £4.54 if you take winnings into account so I'd say I've had my money's worth.

I've got around at least 40 times this year. There are 40 rounds where I've kept a score over all holes. I've also been down a few times and only played a few holes.

That's £4.38 per round without counting the practice area use, free lesson or part rounds - easily great value for money! Joining again for 2011 - hell yes!!

More than!

Taking up golf as my first hobby this year has given me social interaction, many new friends, shed loads of fun and got me out of the house and off the computer!

I have been playing up to 4 times a week through the summer and every weekend once the light left us. I made more money in competitions that I spent on entry fees and I even got to feel what it was like to win a few club stablefords!

The biggest plus is it has helped me cope with my anxiety problems that have dogged me in the time between giving up rugby and taking up golf 19 months later. I fell ill had to give up rugby, the low point came when I couldn't get back to fitness to take it up again as my main hobby. I struggled and struggled making myself mentally worse as I made little progress.

Golf stepped in and gave me a way to get back all the things I lost, the list at the top of my post.

I owe it a lifetime debt that I intend to repay by playing it to my dying day.

not as much as in previous years though still got a good few rounds in. I upped from 5 to 7-day as well, so though I probably did get vfm it doesn't quite feel like it. I certainly didn't get as much value from the weekend play.

When I first saw the question my first thought was "yes, easy".

Now I've worked it out I played just over 40 full rounds and maybe a dozen 9's

Works out just under £12 per round so nowhere near as good value as a lot of you.

I've done about 80-100 full rounds (inc 9s added together) since March. That is between £4 and £5 per 18 so far. I have also won about £10 more in comps than I spent in entry fees. Hardly paid for balls this year with the free ones from GM and the rest coming from my winnings.
