I played in an open comp on Wednesday and coming down the 18th one of my playing partners hit his approach shot from about 130 yds into the slightly raised green. The pin was on the left handside and only a few feet on

needing to score big points, he went straight for the pin,

unfortunately his ball landed off the green and on to the bank and it took a big bounce and headed right towards the many spectators sitting at tables having a drink just outside the club house

a quick lifting of legs and scurrying of chairs saw the ball miss them all and end up right in the doorway to the bar.

Much laughter ensued from all around the green

We were all hoping to see him play it as it lay...but much to our disappointment he was OB

Yeah I have done similar at Bird Hills on the 9th. My ball landed on the right hand side to the green and by the sound of it, hit a sprinkler head and bounced into the crowded patio like a pin ball.

I managed to hit a ball straight left with my 3rd on the 9th at the North West club in Buncrana. Bounced around the door way of the club house (which was OB), hit a plant pot (not a car as a certain other forumer might attest to) and back out onto the fairway.

I made par! :o:lol:

Seen a highly fortunate one

2nd shot into a par 4, aiming to carry a lake just in front of the green my playing partner has shanked it completely, went shooting towards OB on the right. At this point the ball hits a tree on a flat bit where a branch has been sawn off, bounces back towards the green, runs between the back edge of the lake and a bunker, up on to the raised green and stops about 4 foot from the hole. Unbelievable. Still lost the hole though!

Looked a bit like this:

Nothing that funny, but a bit odd. Playing in an Open at Mill Ride earlier this year I hit a 5 iron straight at the flag but we couldn't see where it had ended up. One of my FCs hits a horrible pull, I mean really horrible which is missing the green by 20 yards and looking like landing on a down slope and heading towards some trees. When we get to the green there's a ball about 20 feet from the flag that we all assume is mine. We spend a couple of minutes looking for FCs ball but can't see it. I walk to the back of the green to park my trolley and spot another ball which on closer inspection is mine. The ball on the green we'd assumed was mine was said FCs. How it got there is a mystery to this day. He makes birdie, I make bogey, go figure.

Playing London Scottish when I was a junior. 243 yard par 3 5th with trees down both sides of the hole right up to the green. My mate pulls his tee shot left heading into the trees towards a public footpath that crosses the hole. His ball hits a dog emerging from the trees / footpath on the full and ricochets back onto the fairway, leaving an easy chip onto the green.

The funniest bit though was the dog was poleaxed at first, but then got up, bolted straight back up the footpath..........and took out it's owner following behind! Don't know who I felt more sorry for - the dog (it was ok when it eventually returned) or the owner landing on his arse on a muddy footpath!

Teed of into a par 3, ball flying high towards pin, im saying this is good, its on the money, lands square in the cup/pin and flys out behind a tree, ended up making a double.

playing with other's on here last year I thinned my tee shot only to see it head backwards over our heads, trees and the last green via a concrete bollard some 100yds ahead.

I found it, I decided to re-play from my previous position (tee) - strangely given some posts here no-one suggested this was against the spirit of the game (mind you they were still laughing..........:))

Two come to mind:

1. Thinned left, off a fence bordering the par 3, ball ended up on fringe!

2. Hooked 5 iron on a par 3, looked destined for bunker on right side of green or continue left to OB. Landed in the elbow of the bunker, jumped right and rolled to 3 foot.

Playing with a caddy on holiday...

Par 3 over water- he tells me to take a 5 wood but because of my pathological fear of water, i insist on taking a driver.
I top it badly and it shoots off the tee at less than a foot above the ground, skims the pond and bounces Ducks and Drakes style 3 times and pops out the far side, curls up the green and ends 2 foot from the pin.
Caddy takes the driver from me and says drily "We call that a Jesus shot. Walks on water"

Make the birdie putt much to Mr Mimm's disgust who scores a respectable par from a very nice iron to the green

18th tee par 3 to clubhouse.
10/15 guys sat outside having a drink after finishing comp.
I clip a tree to the right and find my ball sitting up nicely in fluffy grass - a chip over the bunker to green.
I clip it badly, see it soar towards the gallery and yell "Fore".
Everyone ducks, it bounces on paving over their heads.
A guy steps out of the bar just in time to raise his arm and catch my ball coming at him.
I get a rousing cheer from the gallery, bow theatrically and do the walk of shame to get my ball back.

On the same hole previously a pal had hit a tree on the left, ball ricochets and bounces of the raised mound around the back of the green then rolls across the green into the hole.

Played The Belfry about 12 years ago on New Years Day.
Shotgun start because of frost.
Played 18th and hit a perfect drive [well I was aiming safe and hit an unexpected draw]
Exact 5 wood distance to a front of green pin position and hit a perfect shot covering the pin.
Pitched on top of the sleeper over the lake and flew about 100 feet in the air.
Watched it anxiously and it came back just on the frozen lake and bounced 50 feet up in the air.
Continued to bounce about 5 times before settling in the middle of the lake with about 100 other balls.
