Have you ever injured yourself badly the day before a big comp and had to call off because of it?

I was washing a glass yesterday after tea and it broke in my hand slicing a lump of skin off the outside of my little finger.
Fortunately, I'm not playing anything important for a while, but if I had been booked to play today, I would have had to cancel.
Where are the health and safety wallas when you need them?

Managed to damage the muscles in my lower back and buttock once, I had to withdraw from the medal that day. Thought it was clearing up and went to play the following saturday. Played 7 holes swinging smoothly and slowly and was playing well. On the 8th tee all I can remember is finding myself lying on the ground, having passed out with the pain as I went for a big hit. I had ripped the week befores damaged muscles again.

Needed three months off to recover from that one :(

Im pretty much permanently injured in some way or another due to my job.
Didn't think pole dancing was that hazardous ;)

Back has been known to knack me up on a few occasions, Shoulder is the big worry though.
Did dislocate my middle finger on right hand a few weeks ago. Was painful at the time but didn't stop me playing when "popped" back in

Put a hairline fracure in the outsida of my right hand little pinky. Someones chin got in the way , it was just before a period of comps early summer and had to sit them all out. It still plays upoccasionally if I lift or twist wrongly.

Woke up this morning and my lower back was aching like a good 'un.

Not sure if it yesterday mornings round or yesterday afternoons 3 car wash session that did it. I'm hoping it was cleaning 3 cars that did the damage. I'd hate to think I get an aching back after every round.
Sometimes get a twinge of back ache after golf but not the strain type ache I have today. :(

Reading these threads the common denominator seems to be back problems, have suffered the same, but I find golf makes it better, also Bob bought me a massage machine, HoMedics, for Christmas. :D :D

I would highly recommend it. Along with palates things are not too bad at the moment.

My knackered knee knackered itself again 2 days before my prize day out at Bearwood last year - nearly didn't make it. Was painkillered up to the eyeballs and wincing almost every step but I wasn't going to miss it.

You know the story of my burnt thumb and index finger after picking up a hot mug out of the microwave. I got lots of advice from you lot which resulted in a medal win and 2 very sore digits that lasted 2 weeks....well worth it though!! :D ;)

I seem to have fallen apart since turning 45, everything aches in one way or another, knees, neck, shoulders, back. I'm fine whilst playing, it's after, I can hardly move.
