With recent events in Manc and London, and listening to the one love gig. I was faffing about in the man cave wi me bees and about five seconds before a 7lb axe nearly dropped on head. I was putting me golf clubs in the car for tomorrow and had a thought " has anyone ever dedicated there next round of golf to someone".

Have you, who was it, how did it go.

I go out every year on the anniversary of my dad's death and play 18 holes with a mix of mine and his old clubs, a few hours of just me and him remembering the good times.
Then back to the 19th for a pint of golden (his favourite drink).
Far better than moping round the house being miserable.

I didn't play for a while after Rick suddenly passed away last August but the first round I did, I just paused for a moment on the 1st tee and let a few thoughts of our many rounds together bring a smile to my face and quietly said to myself, this rounds on you.

I had a few meets arranged quickly coming up also and we dedicated a day down at Cooden to Rick with a nice touch from Smiffy giving us all black ribbons to wear.

I will be playing somewhere on August 17th and I will dedicate that round & day to him, not sure where yet.

Not as such but funny you should post this topic.

My late Dad got me into golf back when neither of us belonged to the typical golfing demographic. We were Council Estate fodder but my Dad was a golf caddy at Holywood Golf Club (Rory's home) as a youngster in the 1930s - so hence his love of the game.

I have just gone through two years of sheer purgatory on the course playing the worst golf I have ever done during this period. However on Saturday, during a competition, I started to think about my Dad and on two occasions during the round I "asked" him for help in playing a key shot. A bit mad I know, but there you you go :D

On both occasions I hit great shots and went on to score a sub-par round and got my first handicap cut in ages.

Now I know he didn't intervene from the great beyond but nevertheless perhaps subliminally evoking his memory helped me to calm down before hitting the shots etc. etc.

Every year I play in a comp to remember my wife's grandad - he loved his golf so we play a little memorial Comp ( about 30 of us ). Chuffed that I have won it twice out of the 4 years it's been held including the first time , for me prob my most important win because I know how much he meant to my wife

Didnt really know what I was looking for when I was mulling this over in me man cave but this, fish and Pauls is probably what I was thinking about.
only been back into golf for the last five yr or so an not really lost anyone close to me when it comes to golf.

I dedicated one of the honours board events I won many years ago to my dad. It was the first big win I'd had since he died and I remembered him getting me into the game and all his advice and help.

No, but I do the Macmillan LDC every year so I guess I play four rounds to tell cancer to do one.

Yes, I play in memory of my Mum every year in our family golf day. My brother RL Burnside comes down from the Shetlands every year to play in it.
It started with just brothers, sons, nephews etc. but we now invite guests too. One year we had 25-30 playing.

We have seperate comps for the family cup and guest cup. And it gets very competitive!
