Hello guys, I hope you are well and enjoying some good golf.

I'm posting because we are on the look-out for golfers who have beaten their age...
It is an incredible achievement and one we think deserves some acknowledgement in the pages of the magazine.

If you or anyone you know has broken their age and would be interested in featuring in Golf Monthly, please send an email with some details (name, age, home club and contact details (if you have them)) to golfmonthly@timeinc.com.

I'm 48, so no chance of that, unless you mean just on the front 9. Even with my current 21 HC I'd have to shoot a 68, I've got more chance of being thin, handsome and winning the lottery.

I'm 30 so can't even say I've done nine holes under my age. Think I got 30 stableford points once.

A guy at my club has. He's also played Augusta!

Nearest I got before I stopped playing was a 73 {+1} aged 62.
That was on one of my very rare 'good days'.

I have a retired Pro friend who plays off 1 at his club.
He is the same age as me so I would imagine he does it on a regular basis.

A chap did this at my Dad's club (Buckingham GC) in the last few weeks, he is in this late 80's and went round in 85 IIRC - winning the comp with 47 points. What made this interesting was it was in the annual 3 clubs and putter comp.

Have a guy in our club. Plays off 6 and is about 75-80 years of age.

Only in mid April there he shot a 73 won the gross prize (course a par 70)

Remarkable man, something telling me he's 80 this December.

Edit: that the kind of guy yous are looking for?

would look at Jimmy Miller from Brora/Golspie must have shot lower than his age a loads of times, well into his late 70 and still off scratch

Yes, but only for 9 holes! Our best Senior, who plays off a handicap of 3, equalled our course record of 65 at the age of 68 a couple of years ago. 😀

I played with a guy called Will Smith [ easy to remember] about 10 years ago.
He was a member at both Gleneagles and Harburn, age 72 scored gross 72 off 4 at the Eastermoffat seniors open.
Lovely man, after our game at EM he gave me 2 egg boxes containing 12 slightly used Pro V1s, he collects them while walking his dog around Gleneagles in the evenings .

One of our members who I think is now 75 does this several times a year in qualifiers, lord knows how many times he does it in friendly knocks. Still playing off 1 and according to our website has won the club championship in 5 different decades.
