I hate it when my course is closed for some comp from all over the place and all paying member have play elsewhere!!!!! hate it

It does suck if it's your only day off for a while. These things are usually planned months in advance and you should have been made aware. Today was the day to arrange a game at a mates gaff. Feel for you though.

Not good , but we have it too and the dates are known so we play elsewhere where our club have arrangements or a day out somewhere , no use moaning as that's life ....................EYG

Does your club not have an online calendar ?

Normally if it's closed for a county comp then the country have arranged for the members to play at other course in the county

county. Got a day off and was looking forward to a round only to find out its closed!!
Well if that's the case then the members should have been well in informed and you should have had a courtesy round at another course arranged via your secretary/course manager. We have around 10 events a year.

yes has online calender but nothing to play other courses free of charge ill be checking tommorrow

It's up to your course to ask the other courses involved , I don't think they can refuse if it is a official county comp.
It's done via the secretary as they don't let anyone ring up for a courtesy round. Normally the course giving a courtesy only allow a fourball. We get a bundle of requests when other courses host a lincs county event.

we held a county event this year and there were 4 tee times made available at a variety of local courses, you put your name down with the sec and he sorted it all. it was in the diary and we all recieved several emails comms informing us of the weekend closure.

Mildly annoying, but unless it's happening more than once or twice a year, with no allowance made for alternatives, I'd simply put it down to bad timing rather then 'unfair'! I'd take the opportunity to play a different course anyway. I'm pretty certain the Club would have published the fact that it was unavailable that day, and possibly arranged alternatives, well in advance too!

Lesson to learn...check availability of tee time as part of the 'planning' process!

I think we had weekend days this year where there was a comp on and the course was closed. One was a ladies open on a Sat, one was a Pro AM and two an elite am. no arrangments for courtesy. We also had our 4 day open (tue-Fri) but we are allowed a 1 game at Dunbar and have the same arrange when they have theirs.

Last year the course was closed for two weeks which included 3 weekends for the Curtis Cup.

Main reason i took out a County Membership at Moray and kept my membership at Tain until the end of last year.

my last place had LOADS, including the Oil Barons ball which means they take over the place for 3 days. You know in advance and plan accordingly, its no real biggie
