What's happened?
This use to be a busy forum full of opinionated egomaniacs where threads of 15+ comments were commonplace. Now there is about 1 post per day and if you are expecting a reply to a post you may be waiting a long time.
Surely we haven't exhausted the subject of golf just yet?
Used to enjoy logging on here, some of the threads were very amusing, now it seems to have become rather dull unfortunately.

Still here birdieman. Has gone a bit quiet though. I've just discovered online golf betting - anyone got any tips for the USPGA?

You're always going to get a lot of activity on a site like this around the Open and other big tournaments so it's not that surprising that interest tails off when there's nothing particularly noteworthy going on. The Women's British Open is coming up soon though, so that might provoke some debate. Speaking of which, I see that Michelle Wie thinks that her recent playing woes will "make her a better golfer in the long run". I'll believe it when I see it.

sorry, I've been worse than awful of late

my excuse... I've been off doing my brains on a weekly basis in various medals and mens opens

put on 1.3 on my handicap as a result, nice

regarding Michelle Wie, I think she needs a total break from the game if she not to disappear into oblivion very soon

Sorry Birdieman, am sweating my knackers off in Cala Dór Mallorca til a week on Friday, it is 34 dungarees and have spent 4 days snorkelling in the cove right outside the hotel. I am hating every minute of it and would swap it for a wet Saturday medal at Dalziel Park decked out in full survival gear in the middle of summer any time .... Aye right !!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my defence ... I still log on to see what topic is driving the golfing fraternity to despare every other day .... Adios

PS .... The fact I bu66ered off when the Wumins Open is on is merely coincidental.

We opinionated egomaniacs all still here....honestly. We've just been busy lately telling our lifestyle coaches how great we are whilst juggling with the hectic schedule pressed upon us by the producers of "Grumpy Old Men".

Anyway. Michelle Wie...I've a better chance of breaking par...and I don't have the misfortune of having my parents swing the club for me.

Oh dear... my lack of posting I'll put down to moving house. For anyone thinking about it, don't bother. It's a pain in the rse.

Michelle Wie has become a bit of a laughing stock. At least she's rolling in it.. unlike me, the only thing I'm rolling in is little bits of steamed off wallpaper.

Sorry for my part in the silence - I'm looking forward to paying more attention to the great game.

Ian Carter said on Five Live last night that Wie intends to play *more* golf than ever when she starts Stanford University in September. As he pointed out, she is already professional and therefore can't play in the collegiate system that helped Tiger and many others hone their game. How does she hope to compete in a lot of events and still have enough time to devote to her course? Surely it has to be one or the other?? The collegiate system is designed to suit students and their study commitments etc but the same can't be said for the pro tours.

As was pointed out on the programme, Wie had the advantage of seeing how Tiger made the transition from top amateur to top professional but chose to completely ignore it and do her own thing, which has turned out to be pretty disastrous so far. Maureen Madill likened her to Justin Rose, who missed 21 consecutive cuts immediately after turning pro but went on to become an accomplished player eventually. Perhaps that's the best Wie can hope for.

The consensus among the Five Live panel was that Wie has been badly advised all along and owes a lot of her current misfortunes to poor management. Still, she has $9 million in the bank so it's hard to feel too much sympathy!

USPGA- Furyk or Singh are due another major soon, they'll not be far away.
Wie -for $9 million I'd not be too worried if my college course worked out. She needs to forget tournaments for now and get back on the range and in the gym and read the rules book. The popularity she gained is rapidly falling away with her crap golf and dodgy behaviour on the course.
Pleased for Natalie Gulbis now she's won something, we didn't need another Kournikova.

Am pleased for Gulbis too - just generally pleased actualy when her name is mentioned.

Wonder why there are so many more attractive female golfers these days? Is it it just popularity of the sport? Or were the likes of Laura Davies and Dale Reid actually quite hot in their day....?

Laura Daives - Hot ????

Swingstar -define random, do you mean it is different every time? Gulbis does have a funny head move (Paula Creamer has it too but not as bad) but it is a consistent swing I think.
Trueblue - So who are the attractive ones apart from Gulbis? Christie Kerr is easy on the eye in my opinion.

Natalie Gulbis

yes, massive amount of head bobbing and lurching at the ball going on - very Lee Westwood-esque
That said both are awesome ball strikers so I guess its a case of result outweighs the MO

Hi birdieman

I obviously can't speak of all the users on the board but in terms of the GM team I can only apologise for their intermittent contribs to the board of late

In their defence... they have been working very hard on the magazine and website stuff like the Open microsite and the Vault video project

Not in their defence...they have been playing in a lot golf days! ;)

I shall chivvy them up now

Great work Christie - much appreciated. Has her golf got better as a result of the fitness?

You can add Sophie Sandolo to the list of hot women players. Di Stewart plays golf doesn't she?
